erod550 wrote:Hmm... are you still stock turbo? I've wondered how I'd do against one of those from a roll and now I think I could hang with one. From a dig though, forget about it. Even as much as they weigh I think the AWD would be enough for them to get a lead early and keep it.

I think you'd be OK, even from a Dig. It takes a LOT to get a 5700lb vehicle moving. I have a Grand Cherokee (non-SRT) and that's what it weighs, according to the truck scale. 5700 lbs. OUCH.

You would definitely have no trouble erod550, and yes I am on stock turbo. The one I raced was more than likely stock.

Yeah, the MS3 is 400 lbs lighter than the MS6, which is 400 lbs lighter than the SRT-8 Jeep (which apparently weighs 4000lbs, not the 5700 my Jeep weighs).

Curb weight of 4819lbs on the SRT-8 Grand Cherokee. Heaviest for 2009 was the Overland 4x4 which weighs 4891. Was that 5700lbs with a bunch of stuff including people in yours?

No, it was empty, after dropping off at the dump. But then again, it's the dump. Actual weight doesn't matter as much as before and after.

Actually if you use those numbers for hp per lb it's the other way.

(420/4819=0.0871 hp/1 lb) > (300/3589=0.0835 hp/1 lb) :p

Now if a Speed3 weighs 3153 than you get.

263/3153=0.0834 (So it seems dead even with the Speed6? For some reason that doesn't sound right.)

So it seems you also need to factor in the TQ/lb aswell. Also the MS6 has 274HP not 300. From what I'm finding online.

Speed3 - 263tq/3153=0.0834
Speed6 - 280tq/3589=0.078
Jeep SRT-8 -420tq/4819=0.0871

Seems like the SRT-8 should win. Eventhough it's really close. Seems it all comes down to who the better driver is and which driver weighs less.

Except that we're at 6600 feet elevation, where the N/A Jeep loses about 18% of its HP/TQ, while the MS3 and MS6 only lose about 5%.

Callenged by a new durango this morning. My car may not be fast at all right now with a bad clutch but when there is a 90deg corner 100 yards up, I will still win. lol

they wanted to race going over the bijou bridge, we were heading east stopped on the center of the bridge. Lets see an suv go 45mph+ around the S-turn.

Elevation makes a huge difference when you're comparing N/A vs Turbo cars, plus these numbers are assuming the MS6 is stock, which his is not. ;)

Really wish I had my MS3 last night coming home from work. Ran into an Evo X with temp tags and a 3000GT VR-4. The VR-4 launched on my poor pathetic Miata at a light lol. Like I'm even trying to race in that thing. But I'm pretty sure I could have taken both of them. AWD or not.

I like seeing the math behind these things. Like Stealth said though, I think the elevation comes into play big time around here.

So I say it was a combination of my not so stock horsepower, lighter driver/car/quarter tank of gas, elevation, and air resistance being less than that of a Jeep going 90mph down the highway

How about that. I forgot to factor in elevation. Only because I was soo tired I forgot the SRT-8 Jeep isn't boosted.

Challenged this morning by a blacked out, slammed, debadged Jetta with an FMIC and aftermarket exhaust. It was actually pretty quick. Not quick enough, but pretty quick nonetheless. Just wish I knew if it was a VR6, TDI, or what. Didn't sound like a diesel....

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. A turboed VR6 would probably rape me and wipe its winky on my curtains.
