DAMN!

Check this out think it was something like this?
http://forum.mazda6club.com/speed6-engine-drivetrain/216487-fueling-disussion.html

Down below i noticed some people saying they had the same cylinder go. The belief is that the fuel is diluting the oil amongst other things. I thought it was worth mentioning, especially this from in the responses.
Everything is debatable at this point as to why the fueling is so rich. Because it is, I think a catch can is an absolute must, Pennzoil Platinum is the oil of my choice, and blocking off the EGR like Whoosh should seriously be considered. When I pulled my intake mani off to put the new pretty red one on, it was covered in thick black soot. My old mani was spotless (b/c I cleaned the hell out of it) when i reinstalled with the catch can and I was definitely surprised to see more gook in there and it all came from the EGR.

Engine has been rebuilt, i took it to Reno for its first 1000 miles. I'm keeping it out of boost as much as possible, funny, on the highway the car averaged 29 mpg. crazy!
so i now have forged pistons which should be better in any case. when I get back home I will have the guy tune the car with the standback so i can take it back to the streets where it belongs lol.

My troubleshooting is nearing a close. I took the car to Gateway and they have concluded that Mazda is very picky about the brand of spark plugs. whomever rebuilt the engine didnt use NGK which is what created the issues. so replacing the plugs to NGK, new coil and paying for diag costs will fix the problem....

What kind of plugs were in there? I use Denso plugs as do a lot of people on MSF and haven't had any issues with the plugs.

Iridium is the material not the brand. There are Denso Iridiums and NGK Iridiums. Ah well, doesn't matter. Long as the car is running better now.
