The new MR is quicker than the normal version (And so was the Evo 9 MR, but only marginally). Coincidentally, both MR versions of the Evo suffer from weak/unknown transmissions.
The current Evo X MR has the new Mitsubishi dual clutch SST sequential transmission, which can handle unknown amounts of power. It also has a very complex computer. Most people are just modifying the standard Evo X with the conventional 5-speed manual.
In the Evo 9 MR, the car had a 6-speed manual gearbox (among other additions like an aluminum roof, vortex generators, different BBS rims, etc), which made the car marginally quicker (0-60mph was actually slower due to requiring an extra shift to get there). The MR 6-speed gearbox also proved to be incredibly weak once modifying set in- it would shred above 375awhp or so, which for an Evo, is just bolt-ons and a tune away.
So stock vs stock, MR Evo's are quicker, but once they are modified, as of now, the non MR cars are quicker.

Then I woke up.

Challenged this morning by a blue Grand Prix. Completely debadged, so I don't know what trim, but I DEFINITELY heard a supercharger whining as he fell behind me by a car length or tow. So probably a GTP? GXP? Looked like it wasn't the current generation, but the one before.

And today's contestant was a 6th Gen Monte Carlo SS (Intimidator version, of course...to be completely redneck) who decided to try and show off. Thought he'd run away from me, but I prevented that. Didn't try to pass, though I could have if I'd wanted. Just maintained steady distance of a car length behind and didn't let him pull away. He eventually got frustrated and gave up at about 65 mph. LOL...I imagine the "stupid Jap car" comments coming out of the car lolololol.

Saw him a couple times over the weekend on Powers and at Wendy's at Palmer Park/Powers and had to laugh. Didn't get a chance to embarrass him though.

I took care of it for you.

He literally got frustrated (angry face lol), slammed on the brakes, and fell in behind me. Then stayed WAAYYY back from me after that.

so about a week ago my friends and i did a mini cruise to lookout mountain and back just to have fun on the windy roads up there and on the way back my friend in his Audi S4 with an exhaust, gutted airbox(doesnt add much power but he did it...), and a tune and i decided to do a pull from 3rd to 5th gear. It was pretty even through third and fourth. Usually in fifth he kills me because thats his money gear and my worst. but this time i shot forward (still in fourth for me) when he shifted to fifth and it turns out he popped a seal on one of his diverter valves. thats how the pull ended but it was still nice to know i could keep with a b5tt...the video is on streetfire if anyone would like to watch: http://www.streetfire.net/video/2000-audi-s4-vs-2006-mazda-speed6_2032603.htm i had my friend jay (230lbs) in the car he had his little bro (110lbs) in the car if that makes any difference haha
[Edit]
I started in 4th and he started in 3rd my shift to 5th happens around 7 seconds in (long freakin 4th!!) we both end in 5th tho
