Get an FD!

But if you thought your Speed6 was "unreliable", then rotary ownership might not be for you...

Around here, FD's aren't very easy to find. This area (Rocky Mountain region) has the lowest concentration on them around.

Your best bet is to find one out of State. California, Arizona, and Texas are the hotspots and the added bonus is they will be mostly rust free. Bigger problem with those climates is overheating issues, FD's can overheat very easily.

Check out http://www.rx7club.com. You have to register to view the For Sale section but you can find FD's from all around there.

Right now it's a buyers market for someone wanting an FD. Prices are at all times lows. The bonus here, IMHO, is the FD is still truly a rare and future collectible car. I strongly believe in 10 years or so less, when even less than the already-now-rare FD3S' are around, and with the economy doing better, FD's will be worth more money.

That's part of the reason I want to pick up a super clean, low mile, basically stock FD and just keep it cherry. I think it will be worth a lot in the not so distant future.

Same friends that wanted you to paint you lights I assume. FYI, SCR is a bunch of hacks. It's known in the Audi circle to avoid them.

The reason they hate the B5 is because they are lazy and any engine work requires pulling the front clip off to access anything. i.e. timing belt, water pump, thermostat, rollers, idle tensioner...

The E36 you're driving was one of the most un-reliable cars on the road in its class, but like you said "everyone has different tastes."

Something I won't stand for is to call my friends lazy. That's fine if you have an opinion about the shop, but don't be a dick to people that I associate with. I also don't just hang out with people from there. Two other mechanics also hate Audis. SCR is a great shop, business is booming and it's because they work their asses off to keep it that way.

I rather enjoy the e36 I'm driving and I'd like to think that the fact it's almost at 200,000 miles attests to it's ability to endure. Some people are douchebag drivers and don't take care of what they have. This is not the case here.

If so...never in my life will i ever own a hatch! Evo's are ok...i'd get an older one like a 5. Or and 02 STI but id rather get something more luxury like a bmw, audi, lexus...my taste has changed a bit.

You planning on going to Japan? Cause Evo 5s and '02 STis were never sold in the US. :P

It's called America, freedom of speech ring a bell?

Not bashing anyone, just pointing out why they don't like working on Audis. If they were smart(er) they'd embrace them due to the hours they can charge to just get to a part that needs attention. But I wouldn't expect them to realize that fact.

Any reason they have a shop car that's a B5/S4 if they hate them so much?

FYI, painting ones headlights/taillights is the LAZY way of doing it. Proof is in the pudding....

Funny thing is that they didn't tell me to paint my tailights. Another member on this forum did. They hate them because they are so tempermental. They also don't have a "shop" car that's a B5 S4. The only s4's they have are customer's cars. They do embrace the work because of the reason you listed, but I highly doubt you can argue with the fact that Audi's are a pain in the *** to work on. They don't turn one away because of that fact, they suck it up and get the job done and they do it well.

There's a difference between freedom of speech and being an ***. Nothing I ever said warranted your "flavorful" opinion that entailed personally attacking people that I associate with or a shop that has a damn good reputation in the racing and tuning world.

^Haha I had a friend in Phoenix who did that with this spray "Nightshade" or something...paint specially made to spray on your lights. It looked good for about 3 weeks, then it started peeling and flaking and looked like ***. Plus he got pulled over A LOT for it.

It IS lazy! There's a way to tint your lights without ruining your car. And it won't last. It's been argued to death on here, LaminX FTW.

Sorry to keep the post off topic....but....the Nightshades paint works wonders....I sprayed the tail lights of my Mazda 3....Looked great and never faded in 4 years of having the vehicle....I also sprayed my buddies WRX and he has yet to have a problem in 4 years also.....I really don't think there is a "lazy" way to tint the lights...any way takes work....and BTW the Lamnix on my tail lights are fading.....OCD can vouch for that....about 2 1/2 years on...

never liked the Nightshades stuff, but I know that cesaros guy, and his tail lights were legit. It was a clear/black paint mix (not spray paint..it was painted at a guys autobody shop). And I can vouch, it definitely wasn't a slap-on job either lol.
