I beat the piss out of my modded SRT-4 for 86k miles and never one single issue. Tons of SRT-4s are owned by 20 yr old kids who drive like retards and you don't see tons of threads all over SRT boards about them blowing up, especially not while stock or near stock. We were just saying that there are other cars out there that are built to take the abuse better than the MZR DISI motor.

I have damn near fully bolted my 2006 MS6 and the only thing that has gone wrong with my car was a faulty driver seat airbag sensor.

I mash the pedal through all gears on a daily basis, but I don't launch the car. I'm at 75,000 miles and I'll probably need a new clutch either this winter or next summer, but I don't worry about the engine blowing or my car falling apart on me. Am I the only happy MS6 driver out there?

I'm a happy MS6 driver. Just a nervous one.

I should say that I've had zero problems with my MS3 so far and I'm fully bolted minus exhaust mani and meth with 13k miles on the clock. Been modded since around 5k. I am not shy with the pedal either. Just hoping I'm not one of the unlucky ones is all, heh.

Well, apparently being shy on the pedal is one of the problems, so those of us driving the cars hard are probably prolonging the life of the motor lol.

About the "beating on an RX-8 will lead to a lot of problems" statement...motor wise, you NEED to beat on rotaries. This doesn't mean neglect them, but they need to be redlined.

This is actually why a lot of Renesis motors have failed- because old men/ladies own them who want to "baby" them and never take them to a high enough rpm to even get the secondary injectors online. This leads to SERVE carbon buildup, which is the death of a rotary (that and detonation). The higher rpm (9k redline) is what clears out carbon deposits and keeps the motor healthy.

The main thing that will go wrong on an RX-8 when you drive it hard is the transmission, since it's essentially a modified Miata gearbox by Aisin and is braced by the PPF on the wrong side, so it can't handle the power made by the rotary, but mostly it can't cope with 9,000rpm.

Heck I think even driving the RX-8 like an old person the transmision will go. After I got the trany rebuilt 2 days later it was acting up and 1 week later 2nd was grinding like it used to and is getting worse. I can assure you I did not and have not launched the car or drive it like it was stolen since then or really "abused" it much before then.

He actually said UNLESS you drive it hard you will have a ton of problems.
