Haha, well the FD is different. It's a MAP based ECU so once you get start running than stock boost (10PSI) the stock ECU isn't programmed to deliver enough fuel.

There is the "3 Mod Rule" for the stock ECU, people usually do a downpipe, catback, and intake. Any more and you can get boost spikes and blow your motor since the stock ECU has no way to adjust for the greater airflow.

It's just the downfall of a MAP based ECU. It has pre-conceived tables within it for X PSI at X RPM pulse the injectors X amount and run X Ignition timing. Since stock boost is 10psi there are no tables in the ECU for 12psi.

Trust me haha, read up on 7Club, people have blown their motors on their FD's running the stock ECU with a battery of bolt-ons. Most common is a catless midpipe that will cause serve boost spikes and wastegate creep.

......something isnt right here, I helped a friend out with a car I thought FOR SURE would blow up that had the three mod rule on top of 13psi through a boost controller and its still running.

....not to mention, he BEATS on the car ( I mean like everyone looks at him like what the hell are you doing?) and its still alive. He does have dual oil coolers so overheating wasn't a worry, but stock fuel, stock ecu, ex/dp/intake, and a boost controller........maybe he just got a freak of nature engine haha

If he had a manual boost controller (i.e. one that will limit boost), that's probably why...it's the boost spikes that kill an engine because the stock ECU is not capable of delivering enough fuel...but honestly if it's only spiking to 12 or 13 PSI that doesn't sound like anything to worry about.

Most people on RX-7 club are full of s**t anyway. I think the worry is that turning up the boost at all will cause MASSIVE boost spikes, which I guess it does for some people.

Yeah, I'm not worried about. I have my Snow kit shoving 350cc of water/meth down the throat of my FD so it's safe. Car runs like a raped ape, too. It pulls so hard I can't believe it. I had a run-in with a 350Z today and put about 2 buses on him, I was shocked. I REALLY want to get my car dyno'ed because I think it's putting out >245rwhp (on a stock ECU that's crazy)

Also, got two of my new wheels in today! The other two had to ship from a different warehouse and will be here tomorrow.

I am just so incredibly over mazda's attempts at trying to make shit safe causing more problems in the end that I pretty much refuse to do stock anything anymore.

Also, I had a boost controller fail, shit was awesome and spiked to some 28lbs or something haha

Got all 4 rims in, with two different colors of center caps

Still debating on tires, either General SS-595's or Falken FK-452's, leaning towards the General's.

Also rolled my rear fenders with the Eastwood tool. Not nearly as easy as I thought LOL. I didn't mess anything up but I'm not thrilled with how the passenger side fender (first fender I did) turned out compared to the driver side fender that I did secondly. The driver side came out very nice, passenger side has some issues but you can't tell unless get right up on it. I think I had better luck with the baseball bat LOL

Hopefully I will have the wheels mounted in 2 weeks.

You do know that a federal 255 is actually as wide as most 265's right?

They run very wide, my 225 35's fit on an 11 fully seated
