Hello, new to Denver area.
Hi I'm Rik. It seems I may be the only one here with an MX-3. She's my project car, getting ready for next Autocross season. My daily driver is a 2.3 Mazda 3 hatch. The "3" is stock. The MX-3 is the JDM KLZE engine with headers, DC Sports exhaust, a home made cold air intake. Cross drilled front rotors. Currently working on rebuilding the powersteering pump.

Thanks for the welcome heres some pics
I didn't really have any current pics so I took these today, The car needs a bath though. The car is a '93 special edition MX-3 the only version to have this color, Which I'm not fond of, needs some body work then paint. I spent a year working in autobody, so I will be doing that work myself. Actually I can say I am the only person to wrench on this car since I got it and it was stock when I got it. It came with a 1.8 liter V6 with about 135HP. The new KLZE engine should be around 200HP. So it was a fun and spirited car to drive when stock, but now Zoom Zoom! I'm from Wisconsin, but spent the last two years in Las Vegas. I had an MX-3 before from wisconsin but rust was killing it. When I saw this MX-3 on craigslist in Vegas for $500 I had to get it. Vegas cars are pretty much rust free, so it was a better body for a project car. It wasn't running at the time but I had already planned the engine swap. So it was perfect for me. It's still got some issues like the power steering I mentioned.

Although the Special Edition MX-3 is pretty rare, it's still an MX-3. It was never a very popular car except perhaps in Canada for some reason. So I dont see it every being a collector car. I've already put in a different engine and trans and have plans to update the interior so the instrument cluster looks more like the Mazda 3 cluster. So if the rest of the car isn't a stock restoration I see no need to keep the same color. I'm thinking a metalic yellow gold candy. The Pontiac GTO had a color that was close to what I want called Brazen Orange Metalic.
Nice! ALways liked the MX-3. A 2400 pound car with 200+ HP ought to be pretty quick. Any plans for TC?

The KLZE is not a great forced induction engine. I've thought of it, If I found myself with enough spare cash, I might consider getting a KLDE engine from a Probe or MX-6 then turbo charging that. Then again I've always wanted a rear wheel drive car, so If I had that kind of money I might start a new miata or rx7 project. I guess it's pretty improbable the MX-3 will ever get a turbo.

Ah, understood. So...when are you dropping in the LS2?
