Is this bad for the rx8s? I still have my factory cat and res on it. then just some pipe comming to tips.


Anythoughts?

Loud. You don't have emmisions testing in CO Springs do you? If not then your good. Not sure about noise restrictions but I don't care for them.

And as far as being bad I say no.

The catback won't effect emissions at all.

I knew a guy in AZ (Tucson specifically) that had custom 3" catback with no mufflers, and 4" tips. With his cat (midpipe) still in, it actually wasn't too bad, but it is loud. Lots of popping and backfires, however.

It won't hurt your motor at all...just make it louder. Nor will you get a power increase, the factory catback is pretty good, the most restrictive part of the exhaust system is the cat. If you end up going catless, however, I warn you it will be unbearably loud and even possibly illegally loud.

I know it won't hurt emmisions but it will hurt when you're denied testing until you get a muffler. In that case just find a dummy shell and put it over the straight pipe. All they gotta do is see a shell. Same with Cats. If you were to go catless and think you could pass emmisions then slap on some gutted ones.
