Yeah, that sucks.

If you run the economics on it, it actually takes quite awhile to justify the purchase of a different, more fuel efficient car. I work with a guy that lives in Parker. His one-way commute is about 30 miles. He normally drives an AWD 6 cylinder Jeep that gets 15-18 mpgs. He went out and bought some $2000 economy car. I figured that he's probably saving 2 gallons a day- or $8 a day. It would take him 250 days (or about a working year) to justify the purchase of the car.

Yeah...but he also has a $2000 economy car, and depending on what car it is, how old and what condition it's in, as well as what he paid in relation to its value, he might not suffer too much on depreciation on it. That right there gives him another asset, and another tax deduction for the registration costs. And if he were smart, he could drop coverage down on the Jeep's insurance, pay a smaller premium for the economy car's insurance, and maybe get a multi-car discount. So he may not be saving much...but if you look at it in percentages, he's basically cutting his fuel consumption in half, that's if his 'economy' car really is economy and gets around 30 mpg, in addition to other benefits.

And also....:fu: $4 a gallon.

$71 for the Murano on Sunday. I've been on the same tank in the RX8 for about 3 weeks now. Still have about 3/4 tank, too. I guess it's time to drive a little more.

Thanks to Eric I am buying 93 down the road for my house for only $3.89 (Thanks Eric). Even more ridiculous the stations in my town have 91 for at least $.10 a gallon more. Go figure...
