We have 271 members currently and true only about 1/10th actually post but out of those select few that do post not very many show up for things. I understand we all have our personal lives and stuff. Some have been members since the beginning and never show up to support the club. It gets kind of frustrating at times, I try to get meets together or cruises which only 5-8 people show up too. What can we do to get you guys to participate here?

Do you guys agree or disagree with what I'm seeing? I'm just get tired at times of no one supporting this club by taking a few hours out of their weekend and coming to a meet or something. I know the winter has a lot to do with it. Not that summer is here I hope we can have more partisipation.

We have NOPI yes its 65 dollars but this is the only thing I really wish we could get a big group to go too and its at 8 people currently. You don't need a flashy car or something special I don't care if its stock -the club- needs the support. Yeah I know the majority of us are busy and have real lives.

Colombia28's (Andrew) Reply:

Welcome to the club bmwzoom.

As far as member participation is concerned, i fully understand prior plans that land on meet days, and work schedules. I myself have skipped numerous meets on account of school not allowing me to attend, however when we plan a meet near a month and often even farther in advance and still only see a turnout of less than 10, then i get frustrated. More than half of the meets that we plan are announced far in advance of the day scheduled, which from my perspective gives people enough time to request off from work or mark their calenders to not plan/schedule any other event. I do take into account that weekend meets often don't work for many as they work M-F and the weekend is time for their family ect, but your family is of course welcome to the meet as we here at CMZC are all a family.

True this may be to some solely an online thing, but i don't buy that. You joined a local only Mazda club, not a national/world wide forum where there are no meets ect. Here at CMZC you have the opportunity to take your club experience out of the office or home and actually meet other enthusiasts. I understand that many want to cruise and not just stand around and talk, so in the interest of those that want to drive more talk less, we will begin to set up "drive meets" where the purpose of the meet is to drive.

I greatly appreciate all of you who participate in meets and random chit chat, and i am by no means trying to "get on" those of you who don't. Josh started this thread/discussion to maybe light a fire under those that don't attend meets to maybe come to one and see how much fun they are. Meets can only be fun if you come to make them such. So please try your best to make it to one or two or three and see what we are really about, after all you joined this club because you like Mazda's, not the internet :P

Thats fine man I know you don't have a job but I do appreciate you coming out. This isn't ment towards our new members 100% But I'm glad you do agree and atleast don't think I'm just complaining to hear myself talk. (see myself text?)

I know some of you guys have it hard and can't come thats fine and legit and I wouldn't ask you to come if you can't afford it but a majority of you all can.

Well, for one thing, most events (like the Hamburger stand meet) are held in Denver, at least the ones you're seeing. I'm not going to spend the time and money to drive to Denver for a car meet. Sorry, but with four kids that just doesn't cut it. As for the weekly Circle-K meet down here -- eh, no. Too many gang-banger, street-racing punks for me. I have no desire to show up to a meet where someone's drifting around an occupied parking lot, and I get repeatedly challenged to street race. That's the stigma meets have for those of us NOT in our twenties.

Second -- money is tight for everyone right now. This is a recession. How many people on this board have posted that they've lost their job? Those of us who haven't are trying to make ends meet and prepare for possibly losing our jobs, leaving us defenseless and vulnerable.

Also you have to remember this is a REALLY busy time of year. Finals. Graduations. Memorial Day. About half the people I work with are doing annual appraisals. Etc.

For the events held down here, no -- I don't go much. Didn't with the 6club and don't with this one. I'm just not that available. My weekends are spent catching up on the work I couldn't get done during the week. I'll be at the Castelwood Canyon meet, but I'm really not a "meet" kind of guy.

If it makes you feel any better, this isn't just the CMZC having this issue. Ricekiller.com is pretty much shutting down its Southern Colorado operation, and the northern one is on life support. They get a couple of Berettas, maybe a rotary or two, and some Mustangs to their monthly meets now.

I will definitely be coming to more meets, I promise. I have been looking at the 'donate' button but I need a few days this week to find out how things are gonna pan out with jobs. As it gets closer to the weekend I'll likely put in something or at least bring something. I think this club is CHUN-believeably cool and look forward to really getting to know you all in the future. Speed, you bringing any chicks to the meet or what, someone throw daddy Meth a bone here!!!

:) Thanks I know you're job situation as well and stuff. It's hard to post a thread like this and not have some people take it the wrong way and stuff. Not saying you did lol.

But if you guys can look at it from my point of view its hard and almost makes me not want to set up meets and stuff. I'm not saying I don't appreciate the people that come and do take their time I just wish more people would come. If this makes sense.

No, not everyone is having them, but it probably affects some folks. All I'm saying is that I've seen this in other clubs. Mazda6club has dozens of members, but gets MAYBE 5-8 at a meet. I think the biggest cruise I've ever been on we had 9 cars....maybe. So I think maybe this area just doesn't do much of the face-to-face car meet stuff.

I dunno its just frustrating trying to run a club where people dont participate as much as I wish they would lol. I just wish a big majority of our members who dont post would start and sadly there's nothing I - any of us can do to get that...

Maybe instead of having your main meet in the same spot all the time, try moving them around. When I posted in that other thread, someone said that's where that meet will always be. If guys got together closer to my part of town, I would be more willing to go check it out.

One good thing that my SRT club does is have 4 big meets throughout the year, one for each quarter. For the most part, we try to rotate between Denver, the Springs, Denver, and somewhere up north, Longmont, FoCo, etc. These meets are always a lot bigger than just your basic weekend get together, so our guys are more excited to show up. MS3Mafia saw how many cars we had for our last one in Boulder. We had a guy drive up from freaking Raton NM. I'm sure things like the car show you guys are doing will draw a lot more people than a basic get together at a Sonic or something. Once you guys get into the cycle of having regular bigger meets, you'll see your attendance rise.

i can understand where ur coming from but at the same time, i come to the meets that i can. With working two jobs just to make ends meet, free time is a rarity. I know there have been a couple meets that i just can't go to because of job conflicts. But on a different point, I do know where your coming from. I would like to see some more people from the forums at any of the meets i've been to (ok so mainly ham stand) just to get to know and possibly do things with afterwords, as in shotguns (good times by the way). I personally wouldn't mind at all and going out after any meet to a bar or whatever with those that can and throw back a couple beers or long islands and shoot the shit.

I think everyone's just saying "Don't sweat it," Josh. It's also summer -- meets should pick up.

As far as more people posting -- maybe start another giveaway thread, with only those who POST in it get a shot at the prize.

ok. So Josh I completely agree. Come on guys with 271 members you can't all possibly have a money excuse or a driving excuse or whatever. We are all in a recession, so how does that explain the regular participation of some members? Seriously, being part of a club means just that being a part. Sitting at home or work on your computer isn't showing your support in any way shape or form. Obviously, you like your mazda or you wouldn't have joined the club. and you probably drive your mazda, so drive it to a meet. Hang out, talk, have fun. Nobody should have to twist your arm to get you to participate. And as far as Nopi goes. Its narrow minded people who sterotype that show. Hmm, maybe if we all showed up it wouldn't be a stereotypical ricer show or whatever people think it is. Rotary engines are awesome and everyone knows that so how is it that rotarys are not welcome or whatever. I don't really know where I am going with this, but way to go Speed Racer for bringing it up. :77382473:

I do what I can for making meets. 12 hour work shifts, night school 4 nights a week, etc. I think you may be taking this a bit too personal Josh. Everyone will have a different level of commitment to things they belong. Those that don't exercise a lot of involvement in such things are not doing so out of spite or carelessness. It's a choice they've made, and you probably won't change that. Be happy for those that do share your passion, and if you want, provide the opportunity for others to join in.
