Back to the lever that is so much fun to pull while your driving.

Maybe we should call it the ET-Brake, because you may need an ET if you pull it while driving and hit a pole.

STOP CALLING IT AN EMERGENCY BRAKE! It's a PARKING brake. You never want to apply difficult to modulate braking force to the rear tires in an emergency unless it's a last resort- as in total hydrualic failure to all other brakes. If it was truely an emergency brake, it would probably act on the front brakes. Have you ever tried to bring your car to a stop using only the parking brake? It doesn't work very well. Front brakes do something like 70-80% of the total braking on most cars. That's why "typically" rear brakes are smaller than the front (although my Protege is an exception to this rule) and almost always the front discs are vented while the rears are solid.

But if your parking brake can't hold your car on slight inclines, it's in desperate need of adjustment. After I swapped my rear pads, my parking brake got all jacked up until I tightened it.[/b]

I always thought that was a steering brake!

This coming from a guy with RWD. You shouldn't need to resort to this handle with RWD- you've got a steering pedal!
