ok,,, heres my opinion.. and this is coming from a former 6i owner..
Start basic... Do the cosmetics first..
You will enjoy your car alot more when it LOOKS good!!
Start with cheap and work your way up.. do the lil things first, Reason I say this is cuz if you are able to save up for a $75 part here and there, then you know you can save up for more expensive parts later.
Start with the simple things: ( in no particular order)
1. HID's
2. clear Side markers
3. Angel Eyes
4. LED bulbs for all your park lights and turn signals
5. Window Tint
Those are just some small examples of cheap mods to do at first but will give your car a good start to looking better.
Then when you can save up for a lil more I would start off with Lowering springs. I dont know if your heart is set on the Sprint springs, but I had the Tein S techs and they dropped my 6i perfect and had a nice look to it.
Then the next big thing I would try and save up for would be RIMS... Once you add after market wheels your car is NOW DISTINCT AND STAND OUT IN THE CROWD.
You said you like the look of the spoiler,, but if thats all your planning on doing,, DONT... I was in the same boat as you. I to thought that adding a spoiler would look good.. Which you should do istead look into getting Side skirts first then later on getting a a lip kit for the Front and rear.. It will cost alot to get the part and to get them painted, but it will make your standard 6i look alot better.
Then from there I would move on into the performance aspects of the car.. Start with the simple cheaper mods..
Do a Cold air intake first. Then do exhaust.. Those are the first two simple mods that will give you the best bang for your buck in the N/A 4 banger.
Also some things to think about is doing upgrading your car audio.. Adding after market indash stereo, subs, amp etc..
Also, check into doing all the FREE mods you can... Do a search on mazda6club.. Thats where I learned how to do most of mine.. Like the brake light mod. or the front side marker turn signal mod.. Theres a lot of FREE things you can do that will also make your car look good and stand out from the crowd...
You need any advise on how to do these things to your 6i just ask.. I was one of the very few in this club to have a 6i and I probably had the most MODS done to it than any of the other members..

You're probably right. I'm going to be asking for an HID kit for my birthday (and maybe Halos if I can).
Is there any DIY for the clear side markers? Or is it something I can only buy? I know there are some on ebay.
I want to get a tint done quite badly. Question is, do I stay legal at 27% or do I go down to 20%? I haven't been able to find a good picture online of a 27% tint, but I've found some of 20% and I like it. I just don't know how likely I am to have issues if I go down to 20%.

6. Lowering springs (I don't have my heart set on a certain brand, but I definitely want some)
7. Wheels (gotta go with stock size at 205/60-16, just got new tires and no way I can afford new tires too). I'm kinda diggin' these.
As a side note to the tails: I can't afford the car-led tails, and idk if I can justify spending that much on a set of tails. This is an alternative. Theres a group buy on 6crew for $175 right now (so it would cost more without the group buy). Would definitely make the 6 stand out, but it also uses the stock bulbs for the turn signal and reverse light IIRC. Not a huge deal though. And yet another alternative is doing a DIY tint. I would be tempted to do the tint next week (I'm off tue, wed, thu for CSAPs, juniors and seniors don't take them), but my sister will be home and she wouldn't let me touch the car if she could have her way (off at school in Rochester NY, but unlikely she will ever get a parking pass).

as far as the side markers go.. if you want the clear ones, you gotta buy them.. They are only $20-30 on ebay. Not to hard to change out, just gotta becareful not to snap the lile bracket on them.
Tail lights are something that will make your car stand out also. My car came with the standard red tail lights and then I purchased from ebay the Chrome tail lights then I ended up getting a good deal on the Black tinted euro tail lights from member on mazda6club.. You could do the DIY tint, but just becareful and take your time.. if you mess up,, well you ****ed up your tail lights lol.. So take your time.
Are the tires you just bought all season? If so, then just use them for winter and the use your after market rims for summer..

You know turbos arent cheap right? and you do know that turbos aren't made for the 6i at all... It can be done and has been done.. even here locally in denver theres a Lapis blue 6i running around with a custom made turbo.. But that dude spent a pretty penny to get it done.. So from how it sounds,, I know its a dream, and trust me, we all have dreams.. But for you, I would seriouls stick to the basics... Work your way up to the bigger thngs like rims and tires, but for now, Do all the small things one at a time and it make take you a while to get it all done, but once its done, its done.

Haha. I know. And as for the turbo, it's a dream, and extremely unlikely to happen. For the money I would have to pour into a turbo, I could sell my 6 and get a 6s or something. It won't ever happen, but hey, a kid can dream I'm not sure if they are all season tires or not. I use my stock steelies for winter tires, but I doubt I could afford a new set of tires on top of wheels, but we'll see. Most of this is dependent on if anywhere will actually give me a job.
