If I could change one thing though, it would be to flip-flop the system, wherein it would rely on RWD primarily, and *then* activate the front when needed. As it is, it's a FWD car that activates the rears when called upon. [Edit] So far as I've read anyway...

What you're describing is a lot like an STI's AWD system.... in 04-05 the power split by default was 35:65, and in 06-07 changed to 41:59. It's more geared towards being RWD, but adds power where needed. Although there is always power going to all 4 wheels, it's just more rearward bias.

You can find an even MORE RWD AWD system at your local Infiniti dealership IIRC, the G35x/G37x ("x" designates AWD) variants feature ATTESA E-TS AWD, which by default has a 0:100 split, being fully RWD under no slip conditions. However, depending on specific model, under slip conditions can make up to a 50:50 power split.

As Moose said, price tag attracts demographic. Price was, and is with most, what got me....

Truth be told, if they were still producing the MS6's, I would have gone that direction...but would have been stopped dead in my tracks with its significantly higher price tag--just too expensive for me....

Actually, you would be surprised. I bought my MS6 brand new from Burt Mazda years ago (through turbojetta99 actually haha) before I knew anyone there. Brand new in 2006, the MSRP was $28,500.... Mazda was giving out $3500 rebates on the MS6. To top that off, the company I worked for at the time qualified for S-plan (aka invoice pricing without having to negotiate), which was another $2000 off the top. Granted, I understand not everyone qualifies for S-plan, however I can tell you that in 2006-2007, Mazda was having a VERY hard time getting MS6's off the floor, and most dealers were more than willing to negotiate on them, whereas by comparison, for the first year of the MS3, many dealers were marking them up.

Either way, back in 2006 (first model year), I bought my MS6 (sport package) for $23k. With the rebates Mazda was attaching to them, they could be had for much closer to MS3 prices.

Kind of funny, I drive by Burt Mazda all the time, I saw a used MS6 on their lot this morning with a sticker across the top labeled "$23,991" IIRC, and found myself laughing, as it was more than I paid for mine brand new, 3 years ago

I got mine for $21K (also from a salesman on this site) and thought I got a very good deal on it.

funny, mid 2007, there was a +$4500 DENVER MARKET ADJUSTMENT on the speed6's, when I was searching, I only found one dealership that had them for MSRP, all the others were higher. This was at a time when only 3 or 4 local dealerships had new ones left. I think by then, more people were aware of what they were.

I got mine in October of 2006 for just over $24k. I think that was cheaper than the price I was quoted for the MS3 that was just comming out.

I got mine in 2006 brand new for 26,500 and that included leather, sun roof, heated seats, Nav and the key less ignition thing. Defiantly a lot of bang for the buck. The only problem is the stock rims. The car looks so much better with aftermarket rims.
