CPE FMIC flows extremely well. I just had a fun drive to Loveland and back yesterday afternoon to a shop called SRC Performance. They had a Synapse BOV in stock, so I went up there for it. Nice shop and good guys who know their stuff. It is mostly geared towards the german cars, but they work on anything.
On the way back I got to really test my car finally and the butt dyno says things are much better. Probably around 20 - 30hp is my guess. The real fun is 6th gear for me now though. It used to be just a cruising gear for me, but I can now use it for major passing when I used to downshift into 5th. I have not seen much of a boost increase yet, I think mostly due to the fact that I was driving like a grandma for the last few days trying to avoid boost like death and the ECU is not used to how I drive yet.
One other thing. My car used to turn into a dog after about 30 to 40 minutes of driving due to the exhaust manifold cooking the inlet boost tube and raising my intake temps considerably. That problem is now solved thanks to the much smaller boost tube that the FMIC uses.
All in all a great mod that does not take a whole lot of effort or time, just the right tools. I suggest a heat gun in order to use the recirc tube that CPE provides, as well as some kind of tool to cut the tube with. I used a hacksaw. Other than that, make sure all the brackets on the support line up and that you have all of the parts required prior to beginning the install and everything should be good to go.
Oh, one more thing that I found out. My HKS BOV has a plastic ring that contects to the piston on the inside of the BOV. This plastic ring became unseated somehow and may have been contributing to my compressor surge problems. Either way it is off my car and hopefully it will be going to a new home soon. As long as the new home does not include a FMIC.
