That is the car. It looks great and should be on the road in a few weeks. At least that was his plan if I remember correctly. Really nice guy.

I saw that Jalopnik link today. I have #6. I tried to make it different (using pods instead) but I didn't have a way to hide the wires so I just went with the usual gauge pod. I hope to install those two gauges into the gauge cluster someday though, replacing the stock oil and water gauges.

I don't get how gauges on the a-pillar is bad. I have them, too, and I think it looks cleaner than having gauges anywhere else IMO. Plus at least it's somewhat professional looking, not like having gauges with a strap mount and wires exposed double sided taped to the dash, now that's tacky. Plus, having gauges on the a-pillar puts the gauges in-view, so they're actually useful.

Yea that one is dumb. A-pillar gauges are not bad. Now a 5" tachometer sitting on top of your dash in a car that's not a stripped out dedicated track car, that is bad.

Pillar gauges can be legit, but the article has a point. It gives the impression of cheap on most cars. I mostly see them on trucks though, which usually are accompanied by the douche lift and giant compensating exhaust. Diesel trucks are the new rice in my opinion and the worst offenders for douche-baggery.

Well since one of my "gauges" is a clock and the other is to monitor oil temperature on a car reported to have some potential for issues there, I apparently went function over form. Granted, I didn't go with crazy high end gauges, but I like the functionality and the look. What would be ideal for me would be a custom pod in the area of my dome light (center windshield crossbar). I don't have that talent yet and haven't seen one commercially available.

But in any event, pretty funny article. Will have pictures if updated interior soon I hope.
