and protege owners do the 626 intake manifold swap? jw cuz i dont see how the vacuum lines and wiring will work if at all? brackets are completely different

Yes they do. I swapped mine. there is a diagram actually a write up on mazdas247. Ill try and get the link for you.

ok guys great news. got the beast running again(its not really a beast)

did the 626 motor swap, i have lots of pics been really busy lately. once i got the swap done i went to start the car up and it just was god awful, barely idling, fuel in #1 cylinder, it was terrible. then i remembered the cam gears are different and swapped the cam gears and it ran amazing i finished it about 2 weeks ago, and then i had another surprise.

my son was born march 11th YAY!!!!!

plenty of pics to come everybody dont worry i will update later today!!! but the important thing is my cars back and my sons here lol. o ya he weighed in at 6lbs.8.5 oz. 19"tall.

haha ya man im glad its running again. something was wrong with it when i first got it because it runs so good now, must have just been a hack job ready to blow. and my wife has a posting on craigslist to sell it.

we both want a suv for the baby and winter we already have a nice mazda6, lol but i dont want to leave my baby!!!!

UPDATE: after talking for a long time my wife and i decided to keep the beast longer so we dont have to worry about anything else at this point. SO MUCH FOR THAT!!!
