ya it was a while ago... oct sounds about right..

and you didnt miss a whole lot.. just bree getting a little heated up cuz one of our fellow memebers was dumb enough to pass a slow car on a Double Yellow on a blind turn and get lucky enough to have another car come around the corner at the same time.. So ya,, a mile up the road we all stopped so she could get out and do the lil finger wave in his face a give him a piece of her mind..

Looks like about half the crowd is from up north and half from denver so I think we'll probably do a drive around boulder area to meet in the middle. I looked at a loop today on mapquest that looked good but I want to check it out this week beforehand to see what condition the road is right now. it's about a 2 hour loop (going the speed limit the whole time) so maybe 1.5 to 1.75 hours, mapquest times are always pretty conservative. If anyone objects, let me know.

bmwzoom, if you could send out a txt to let some people know about doing a loop around boulder area, that would be awesome. I'll pm you too.

I look forward to meeting a few of you!

I'd be happy to. I just need more specifics. If I don't text out all the information I have, then I get a billion questions. So if you would let me know where exactly to meet (down to the address even), what time, and approximate route that would be very helpful! I am excited! Hopefully I will add a few to the "list". Weather permitting of course.... good 'ole Colorado.

Cruise Details

Postby edgeautosport » Wed Feb 17, 2010 9:14

Ok everyone, here's the plan...

I drove the route today and the road condition is fine, just a little sandy with some gravel so if you don't want chips and a cracked up windshield, make sure to keep a little distance between you and the person in front of you. It should be just fine though, unless it snows the day or night before.

Sunday, February 21
Meet @ 10:30a at Folsom Field Parking Lot - I'm not familiar with the facility but I figure this is a good place to meet for a few cars.

Leave @ 11:00a for drive. I will have Mapquest directions printed out for everyone just in case.
From Boulder...
-Canyon Blvd about 17 miles west to Nederland
-Stop in Nederland for break, you will be able to use restrooms or get food/drink
-Hwy 119 south about 9 miles to Hwy 46 East
-Hwy 46 East (Golden Gate Canyon Rd) for about 17 miles to Hwy 93 into Golden
-Through Golden to meet at Coors Visitors Center parking lot

If anyone wants to break off before we go to Coors Parking Lot, feel free. I will probably get some food in Golden after our drive and anyone else is welcome to join. We'll wrap up in Golden though.

Let me know if you have any questions. Lookin forward to cruisin!

Quick few things to remember before we go...
1. Check tire pressures
2. Get enough gas
3. A cruise is just that, a cruise. Racing, illegal passing, and any crazy maneuvers are unacceptable. We're not blazing a trail. We're car people going on a drive...don't worry, we'll still have fun without going 100mph through a canyon.
4. If you have bald tires or less than 10-15% brake pad left, you probably shouldn't go on this drive...or any for that matter.

Any hint on whether there is snow in the future for the Boulder area? We are supposed to be getting some up in FC for the next four days.

Ya i just checked the forecast this morning and it looks like it might not be the best weekend to do it. I think it might be best to push it out to next weekend maybe, or anytime we get a nice forecast. Either way, let's just plan on the same route and times but push it out to another day.

I'll keep checkin the forecast. Bree, can you txt blast the group again and just postpone it?

Thanks guys....and thanks to Colorado.

She's not the only one who's done that! ;)

I should be able to make the cruise if it's on a Sunday afternoon. Make it earlier on in the day, I won't be able to attend :(

I dunno, looks like snow in the forecast, so I doubt this will be a good weekend to go.
