Very Nice Spec B at CarMax

Postby Stealth01 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 9:14

If anyone is interested in a 2006 Legacy GT Spec B, CarMax on Tutt blvd has one. It's silver, with 32K miles on it. Loaded with just about every option Subaru offers, and is $451 of 500 made that year. Has kind of an ass-ugly reddish-brown leather interior, though. $22,998.

If I hadn't bought the MS6, I'd probably be all over that thing. So much cheaper/easier to mod and tune than my car.

That's OK. I love my car.

Wow, they gave it to the MS6 because of body roll in the Spec b. But the Spec B is SUPPOSED to have the upgraded suspension that prevents all that, so kudos to Mazda for making a great handling car out of a 3600-lb pig! :)

Damn I'd just go for a regular Legacy GT, or a MS6 if I could find either one, and for a good price.

The Spec-B was the "this or that" car for me when I was buying my MS6. What took me towards Mazda was the interior.....let's face it, STIs, Spec-Bs, ANYTHING I've seen from Subaru....they all have meh interiors compared to what Mazda offers.

I agree with you both:

The regular GT would suffice just fine for me (and even at that, the GT's are still too pricey for my blood)...and yes, the interiors would make most look for other options. You do have to actually sit in the car too, lol.

What I didn't like about the Legacy was that the steering wheel wasn't close enough to the driver's seat, I felt like I had to reach too far. And another thing, the Legacy was slow as shit. At the time I thought all Legacy's were turbo, I didn't know it was just GTs that were turbo. Once I drove the GT I was impressed, but not really any more than the MS6. AND the GT I was looking at was kinda worn and I didn't feel like fixing the stuff.

That's what I found out about (stock) Audi's...turbo or not.

When you haven't driven anything faster, the 1.8T/2.0T seems really fast, but when you've driven something faster, you realize they're really not that fast at all, at least stock. Still, my wife's 1.8T Jetta was a fun car to drive with a very nice interior. It just started having all sorts of electrical problems that even the dealer couldn't figure out. They'd charge us $800 and tell us it was fixed, and then a week later the problem would come back, so finally we just traded it in for an Impreza. Interior isn't as nice but it's a beast in the snow and has been pretty reliable so far.

Well, the Spec B sold pretty quick.

Slow? It should be just about the same as the MS6, maybe a little quicker to 60 since they only have to shift once.

However, CarMax has a gorgeous 2000 M5 on the lot now. But it is 72K miles, and i don't have the $$ to maintain something like that. Nice car, though.

Nice. I'll have to drive by and check out the M5 tomorrow when I go to the bank next door.

I was saying the regular Legacy (non-turbo) was slow. More like NOT QUICK really, lol. I don't need another fast car, but in an AWD car I'd like it to at least be fairly quick so I can pass someone if I need to, etc.
