Anyone down to help with a couple installs?

So, I know I'm not a Mazda owner anymore... but, just wondering if anyone wanted to stop bye and lend a hand with a couple installs I plan on putting in sometime in the next few weeks

I plan on putting in a new Blouch TD05H-20G along with a CSS FMIC & SPT intake (can't use my current AEM CAI with the FMIC

). From what I understand, this FMIC is usually about a 2 hour job, although factor in my average at best wrenching skills and I will be planning for 3 hours lol. The intake should be a short sub-30 minute job, and the turbo while only being rated as a 1 hour job, I'll plan on 2 hours. Overall, I'm thinking 4+ hours or so.

Anyone interested? Let me know!

I such at t3h install parts, but am more than willing to do what i do best, stand there and watch.... maybe a photo or two thrown in. Moral support? lol.

Post up a date and i'll do my best to swing by, i have not seen enough of your STi! I wants morzzz.

Moral support is alright with me

It's actually pretty helpful, drastically reduces the number of wrenches/sockets/screw drivers/ect that get thrown across the garage :lol:

LOL, yeah but it also makes for lots of broken stuff

Oddly enough, neither of these installs is supposed to be too tough, not nearly as much of a PITA as an inlet hose/up-pipe ect. We'll see how it goes

Haha, i could imagine how these two installs could cause some wrench tossing.

I can stand around and look stupid as well as the next guy...and be an extra set of hands if need be.

I can stand around do nothing...... Help with dissasembly/assembly (just tell me what to do)...... laugh at your frustation when you can't get that "one" final bolt off, then 30 minutes later it falls off by itself...... Or I can just hand tools around......

Hell yes! Extra hands are always helpful

I live off of Arapahoe & Revere if you know where that's at? It's close to the Centennial airport, right off Arapahoe about half way between I-25 & Parker Rd.

As far as a time frame goes, everything was just ordered not too long ago... I'll set a time for install when I actually receive all parts lol. I've learned my lesson over the years, never set install/tuning dates until you have the parts in your hand lol. Sometimes vendors are unreliable (big shock there right? haha).

The turbo to DP bolts have come off before, hopefully it shouldn't be too much of an issue.... the turbo to up-pipe bolts on the other hand

Well, I've learned my lesson in the past, on tough exhaust bolts I now always use 6 point sockets (no more 12 point sockets, too many stripped bolts in the past) with a 1/2 driver/breaker bar and usually put an uber cheating pipe over the breaker bar for extra leverage, and douse the bolts in PB Blaster the night before... so, hopefully everything will go smoothly lol.

Have you ever tride torching the bolts? when we did Ghosts Turbo we had problems with the exhaust mani. bolts. Mostly due to him not getting the socket all the way on.... Anyway a phone call to my Brother and he advised me to toch them for a little bit and off they came.

Hmmm... actually I haven't, never had a bolt that was that stubborn *knock-on-wood*.

I have a few swivel socket joints & extensions, so usually I can get a socket on all the way, but then again, I've never tried installing an RX-8 turbo kit either lol.

Yeah it was fun. You don't ever want to do a Greddy kit on an 8. I'm sure when/if ever I get my Esmeril kit it will go smoothly. Esecially since I have lift access and all the tools you can think of at my disposal.

It was a tight squeze by the manifold. I was able to get the socket all the way on. But by the time I got to it the to half of the bolt was stripped. :eek:

I'm sure the STI has a lot of wiggle room to work with.
