Ha! Tell me about it; I've done it!
Not to mention that, that Z28 would rape my Mazda! Image

Then again I'm not in my 20's anymore, and I don't use quite so much hair gel, so....

One of my deciding factors on the Cobb AP vs CPE Standback was the Cobb AP was $700. The CPE unit with both flashes and the PnP harness was more than double that.

To be fair though, you can currently tune with the CPE, with the Cobb you need to either pay for an etune or be stuck with one of the OTS maps for now.

Well at least they give you the option to use existing maps or have a a custom one done. I think that's a selling point. (?)

Did you use anti-seize on the plugs and/or dielectric grease on the connectors? I'm installing the Denso Iridium ITV22 plugs this weekend. I don't want to screw this up. My car is running great... I don't want to fxxx it up.

I used both when I installed my plugs. Just make sure to remove the excess, the anti seize I got is made by the same people that make PB Blaster and that stuff can go everywhere if you're not careful.

BTW, where in St. Louis are you Jeff? I am in Baldwin about 3 times a year. My company headquarters are out there. I think I am one of the few that like that city, most of it anyway.

I'm in Chesterfield only 15 minutes from Ballwin. Let me know the next time you are going to be in town. I'd like to get your opinion on my current mods.

If my Standback isn't good when I get it back from CP-E, I'm going AP.

I think the hotel I stay in is in Chesterfield. I usually stay at the giant Drury Inn. It is a ways from the office, but they have free drinks nightly.

I just got done with a recent trip out there. I usually have to go out there to put out some big huge forest fire that turns out to just be some small dumpster fire. For the next couple of months I'll be traveling to Dallas a lot. I wish I could take my car with me so I could get a Cobb Tune at their Plano Facility.

What's wrong with the Standback?

TRADER:3039183a: if the standback isnt fixed, then something else is wrong with your car. Why would the AP make any difference

It's simple logic. With the PnP harness installed, the car runs fine. With the Standback installed, the car doesn't run fine.....fuel cut, uncontrolled boosting, etc. That leaves the Standback as the culprit. I have the fuel cut flash, a CP-E fuel pump, a working wastegate and wastegate solenoid. I am overboosting on just my ECU, but that is expected with a full TB exhaust w/ no back pressure. It's a spike only, not boost creep. So, still say I'm a TRAITOR? :)

i agree, its simple logic. The standback must be messed up, you said you were getting it fixed. If it comes back, and the same thing happens, then it is NOT the Standback..

Overboost may be normal, but certainly not 18-19psi like you have. :)

I agree with you as well. I am fairly certain the Standback will behave once installed this Monday. It was flashed with the newest firmware, and a new map switch was installed. If for some reason it doesn't work, Jordan thinks it may be a connector issue with my factory harness.

Regardless, you can't blame me for trying something different via an OBD2 port. Maybe I'll buy Patrick a case of beer to let me try his out for a day :)

We can coordinate something if the standback doesn't work out. I'll be spending 4 of the next 8 weeks in Texas, so you could use the AP during one of those weeks. It takes a couple of days for your LTFT's to settle down, until then you'd have to take it pretty easy.
