Came back off of leave and my battery was dead. The key fob wouldnt unlock the car. When i unlocked the car with the key the alarm went off and i couldnt get it to turn off. Put a new battery in and the car wont start now. Turn the ignition and it just clicks. Deff got plenty of juice in the batt. Hoping i didnt set off the immobolizer or something.
I looked in the owners manual and it says it will disengage when the key goes in the ignition and turned to ACC. The security light goes out like it supposed to but still wont start. Whats goin on here?
Flippin 8 wont start
Ok Update. Got a hold of Mazda finally. Lady at the Services dept told me to try and jump the battery since it might be a dead batt. Jumped it and she started runnin. Took it out and drove it for bout half hour. I really drove it, high revin up to bout 7- 8 grand. Got home and parked it. Shut it off and tried to start it again. No luck. Turned the key to crank it and it just clicked. What gives??

That suck... If you bought a new battery and it didn't start until you jumped it you might have bought a bad battery (not sure how often that would happen).
Take it to Bob Penkus Mazda on motor city and ask them to figure it out.
Also are you sure you got the right type of battery for the 8. It is suppose to be a certain kind (not sure exactly what). When my battery died a month ago, I took it in and the stealership took good care of me. Buy the battery from them and put it in yourself.
Good luck!

Just went through the same thing with our 66 Mustang. If you have a power draw somewhere ie a short, barewire, loose connection, the battery would drain until the core is completly dead and wont hold a charge. The alternator would keep the car running while its on after jumping it, but the battery wont charge enough to start the car. Take your battery to checkers or something and have them run a test.

Have you added anything to the electrical system on the car. Like lights etc. I would look there first.

The easiest way the find the draw is to start pulling fuses untill the batt doesn't die.

If you are thinking about getting the BHR coils, get on the list now (RX8Club, PM Charles R. Hill). Otherwise when you get back you will be waiting another year.
I have been on the list for the past few months and should be getting mine very soon. I let you know how they work for me.

battery problems
hey check the cold cranking amps on your battery, the reason is the stock battery is a peice of crap and isn't strong enough to last in this colorado weather. 540 cold cranking amps doesn't last long, advance auto parts has replaced my battery twice this winter, so ask the mazda dealership for the correct cold cranking amps, go to autozone or advance auto parts to get your military discount.
