Ok, my 2008.5 MS3 has about 4K miles on it and I feel like adding a little kick to the beast. I see that SU has a deal on motor mount and shift bearings for $140
(http://www.streetunit.com/MAZDA3_Engine_Mount_and_Solid_Shifter_Spacers_p/su30.htm). What's the latest feedback people have on these? Is this a good package deal, or are there others I should look at. Does the 08.5 speed really need a new motor mount, I though I heard that they had modified the mount for .5 (I could be totally wrong)
More specifically I am really getting sick of the messy gearbox and may look into a short throw here shortly. I have heard some good things about the COBB but how does the TMW compare? What else should I look at? But I understand you want the shift bearings for the Cobb; will the SU work with it?
Finally, I was all set to get a Dash Hawk but I understand that they have now been discontinued, and no data has been released on the replacement. Got to love MSD! I understand the dash daq might be a good replacement. Anyone have any suggestions here, should I wait on MSD, or go ahead and invest?
Finally, I'm still looking at other mods for the ms3, and if you have any suggestions on what else to look at I would be very interested. The car is stock as of now, and my first install was going to be the MS CAI but I may soon be moving someplace with heavy rain and I don’t want to risk the hydrolock on a puddle. I’m also trying to keep the warranty good for a little while which means no drastic changes.
Some ?'s: Engine mount, shift spacers, short throw shifter, data management

If you don't mind vibration then go with SU it is a VERY solid mount. CPE is also coming out with their mount within a few weeks with next to no vibrations an a solid mount as well. Trust me with the AC on the vibrations get annoying. I have SU mount for right now.
Also if you want go with MS CAI but they dont sell them anymore because of MAF issues. I would wait on MSD's new product for sure. I have a dashhawk and love it though.

I too have the SU motor mount, and the car felt more solid right away after install. I have not noticed any MAJOR vibrations at all, very minimal with the ac on.
As far as shifters go, I have the stage 2 by TWM, it really helped out the junk in the shift box, much tighter than stock. TWM makes shifters, THATS all.. Cobb's looks nice as hell, but as far as brand history, TWM has more experience on the shifters.
Additional mods? I would definitely start with an intake of some sort. If you are worried about hydrolock, go with the Cobb SRI. Many speed3 owners on here are running it, and they're all happy to my knowledge. After getting engine management for my car, I truly believe that engine management is one of the first mods anybody should do, it allows your vehicle to be adjusted better to your modifications you currently have, and for future mods as well. Also with plug-n-play, its easily removable for dealer visits. An upgraded BOV would be a good one too, as the stock valve is cheap and leaks boost..

I am looking to replace my rear mount mount... I assume it's the same as the 3. Any recommendations on brand and where to get? This is an old thread, so want to make sure.

I wouldnt assume it is the same.... It may be, but there are quite a few things that are different between the 3 and 6.
Id say there isnt much difference between manufacturers of rear wishbone mounts... just want to make sure the durometer isnt too stiff, or your car will feel like an 85 Civic...
I have StreetUnit, but the C-pe is a good mount too..

I have a Mazda5. It's hard to get "dedicated" info for them. I think a Mazda3 or Speed 3 mount should work. I have a 2.3 L just like them.

Thx though.

I had the corksport inserts on my 3. Check it out, if it is the same rear mount- you can have them and save yourself about 40 bucks. They definitely helped the shifting, added some vibration. I removed them before I sold the car.

If it was on a 3, it will work on a 5. They list the same part for that mount.
cprtrainer wrote:No, mine was on my NA 3- check out corksports website. It is the blue 2 piece insert.
