LOL,, I used to be like that back in the day, but in another way.... When I first started driving, I got myself a discount card that could be used at all the TOTAL gas stations.. After so many fill up it gave me some sort of discount, I dont remember what it was, but it was something.. So I used to by pass all sorts of gas stations just to get to the few TOTAL stations that were in town.. So instead of paying the .75cents at conoco,, thats right, I said .75cents.. I would pay .80cents just to use my TOTAL card..

That very same thought has crossed my mind, about the single pump and being able to choose 3 different fuels. There isn't much I can do about it, and usually am able to stick to 3 gas stations that I am a "regular" at, so for those 3, I am picky about. Two of them happen to be Shell.

I use the Diamond Shamrock on Academy instead of the other station, because all the teenage ricers hang out there. Does that count as being picky?

I hate the single hose pumps for the exact same reason. I have never put anything other than premium in my SRT or my MS3, and I always use Shell or Conoco.

I know all stations are not equal. The one on Buckley AFB, as well as the one outside the south gate, must be adding water to the mix. My Saab turbo coughed and choked a few times. I finally realized it was when I filled up at the base... with Premium!

For those of you who are that concerned about it, just go to the Shell station thats close to the Sun night sonic and get 100 octane. They sell it (on its own hose) for $6.52 per gallon. :723b3bdf:

You are such a lier. We with non-piston high compression motors need to run as high as we can.[/b]

The reason a rotary should be using the lower octane is the shape of the combustion chamber. Also know as the bathtub. That's why we have two sparkplugs. Higher octane burns slower, andin the bathtub configuration slower flamefronts produce a lot more heat. The renesis compression ratio is two tenths of a poitn higher than an old school 13B. I'm sure mazda recommends it, but that's probably more for emissions control. I know when I use high octane fuel, my car does have cooling problems. I guess I can't tell you to use low octane Jimmy, but those of us with NA non-renesis rotaries really shouldn't use premium. Sorry, I guess that's the price of progress. :)
