I've only missed twice now, but both times I tried to force it into place rather than letting it guide itself. :P

Just pit it in "R" for "Racing" from now on. You'll be fine.

Just giving you a hard time man....

And in all seriousness, unless I'm trying to save gas, I gun it at most stops anyway. If the other person happens to gun it too....well, so be it. Normally, if I think they might try, I'll take it easy. But the last two times, I was too grumpy to go easy on it. Since I missed gears both times, that's probably a sign. LOL.

I need to chill.

I had a WRX challenge me on Friday. I just let him go. I was not impressed with how not fast it was.

Over the last 13 months of owning my STI, I've ran the following:

White SRT-4 with at least exhaust & intake (had a few small stickers) from a freeway roll- My car was still bone stock with my wife in the car, he pulled about a half a length at first and it stayed like that until I shut it down.

Blue SRT-4 with at least intake & exhaust, also from a freeway roll- My car was still bone stock. He pulled a good car length on me, pretty quick car.

White 1G AWD DSM with at least FMIC & exhaust- My car was still stock. I put a good 3 lengths on him by the time I shut it down.

Josh's old red Mazdaspeed 3 lol, without EM engaged, IIRC at the time he had a DP/RP, CAI, BOV & ETS TMIC- My car was still stock. From a rolling start, we were even up until about 110mph when my car started to pull. In his defense, since his EM wasn't engaged, he said he was hitting fuel cut at that time, which would explain why it went from being dead even, to me suddenly pulling hard.

I've beaten the crap out of numerous modded Acura Integras, not one of them nearly interesting enough to talk about.

Red C5 Corvette- By this time my car had a TBE & Protune. Pulled pretty steadily from a roll, then absolutely MURDERED him from a dig- bus lengths.

Old White Chevelle (sounded mean as hell) with stripes in the middle- Smoked him from a dig HARD, bus lengths.

Silver E46 M3- By this time, my car had only a downpipe & tune, I also had my wife & 330 lbs brother in the car with me, he was alone is his car. Went from a low roll, he punched it around 15mph or so... I probably had 4+ lengths on him by the time I shut it down.

Silver new generation (Z4 style) M Coupe- I've ran this guy a few times, as we take the same route to work on similar days. When I was stock, it was fairly close, I might have been inching on him. With just a DP & tune I would pull several lengths on him.

Mini Cooper S with at least intake & exhaust- I had a TBE & tune... not even a race, just me pulling hard & shutting it down shortly after.

New generation (05+) Mustang GT- I had a TBE & tune, didn't hardly notice he was trying to run me until I heard him go WOT.... lol... by the time I hit the throttle, I immediately started pulling HARD, not even a race. Stupid kid lol.

My buddy Brandon's '06 GTO from a low roll- I had TBE & tune, I pulled a few lengths by the time I hit 70mph & shut it down.

^^^I'm sure there's probably a couple more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Oddly enough, no one has even tried to run me since I retuned the car for E85 and put a Flex Fuel badge on the back of the car?!?

I wouldn't call this a challenge per say, haha.

I was driving north on academy after I left the dyno meet. Academy is 3 lanes if you dont know. a V6 mustang and a '80s F150 smoking pos keep getting stopped at lights and they keep racing. I was behind the car in the center lane and the truck was in the slow lane. After 3 lights of what they call racing I'm getting tired of it. When the light turns green they start to race, I stay on the mustang and when the car in the fast lane is well behind I pass the people racing. You had to see the look on the girl in the mustang face when I passed her, haha.

Okay, this isn't a challenge story, more of a rant I guess.

I hate when you are behind a slow person in the fast lane on the freeway who does not change lanes to get out of your way when the slow lane is unoccupied.

This morning on the way to work there was a Mustang GT with a body kit, wheels, and all sorts of stickers on it just cruising in the fast lane around 65mph on C-470. The slow lane had no one in it once we both passed this granny doing 60mph in the slow lane. The mustang just sat there in the fast lane doing 65, so I put on my blinker and proceed to pass this retard when he floors it. I was not trying to pass him in an aggeressive matter, I think I was doing around 70mph when he hit it. So, I dropped into 5th and overtook him in about 2 seconds. The look on his face was classic dear in headlights.

Of course, being the fantastic example of a human being that he was, he rode my ass the rest of C-470 through traffic. I had some fun though going around 10 under the flow of traffic while he was stuck behind me.

Okay, end of rant, I hate people.

That very much reminds me of one of the times I was headed up the 24 towards woodland park. We were in the curvy section just outside of manitou, before the turnoff to pikes peak highway. I was in the fast lane, but the person in front of me was doing a nice blocking job by doing the limit in the fast lane. He brake checks me once, so i get closer. He brake checks me again, I get closer still. He brake checks me a third time, but this time i'm in second, and he's left enough room between him and the car in the right hand land for me to blow by him on the right and get back in front of him....

Now had he just gotten over instead of trying to do his civic duty of controlling traffic, this whole agressive driving nonsense could have been avoided.

Driving home from Boulder last night i got challenged by a Subaru Forester STi edition thing. It was a blue turbo forester. He wanted so badly to race. He kept pulling beside me, doing the short burst of speed and then back to my side. He game my the three honks and took off but i stayed the same speed. Por guy wanted to play bad. Josh would have loved to play with him.

Bumping up an old thread.

On my way home from work last night on C470 headed east. I typically go 2-3mph over the speed limit, so I'm just cruising at about 67mph or so. I'm in the left lane, passing a large white pickup truck. As I'm passing him, I glance at my rear view mirror, and there's a light blue 05-06 GTO (had the dual hood scoops, and dual exhaust) that comes right up on my bumper pretty fast, and I'm thinking "whoa, he's in a bigger hurry than I am".

So, after I pass the pickup, I continue going the same speed, turn on my turn signal, and move over to the right hand lane, to let the GTO go past me. At first, it looks like he's going to fly right bye me, but as his rear bumper gets to my front door, he hits the brakes. The way he hit the brakes, I assumed he had a radar detector, and maybe there was a K/Ka/Laser signal or something, which caused me to check my radar detector out of habit (even though I was only going 2mph over lol). Nothing on the radar. I look back over at the GTO, who downshifted, and is now doing the whole hitting the gas suddenly and slowing down. It was the most obvious baiting I've had in quite a while.

I look at the rear end of his car, which is when I noticed the rear dual exhaust (so I know it wasn't an '04, dual hood scoops+dual exhaust=05-06 LS2 powered/400hp GTO), and the exhaust looked stock. I didn't check for a temp tag, but the car did not yet have plates on it, and was tinted.

He's bucking his car at me (although he never would pull up directly along side of me, his rear bumper was at my door), and I take a look around.... nothing on the radar, no one anywhere close in front of us.... I look down at my temp gauge, and my car had JUST reached full operating temperature... which, typically, I wait a few minutes after the car reaches operating temperature to go full throttle, to give the oil a chance to get to full operating temperature (as the gauge only monitors coolant temps), but I figured "what the hell, I'll give the guy a run".

As I look up from my gauges, the GTO goes WOT... my hesitation cost me, his rear bumper is now just past my front bumper... I downshift to 4th (yeah, STI gears are short), and it immediately stops his pull.... his car doesn't pull an inch, as my car builds up to the same speed.... towards the top of 4th, I start to reel him in.... by the time I shift, we're nearly dead even.... I shift to 5th (typically around 85-90mph), and just keep pulling on him... I shut it down around 105-110mph or so, figuring that's way too fast for public roads... at that point I had at least 1.5-2 lengths on him. It was a very clear, and decisive win, there would be no question of which car was faster, nothing to prove.

He passes me in somewhat of a "ricer fly-bye" after I hit the brakes, but hops on the brakes right after he passes me. He doesn't try to line up with me again :) He had a head start, he hit the gas first, he still got walked pretty hard, and he knew it. I have to admit, I was disappointed, I didn't get a friendly wave/thumps up or nod from the guy. He just drove off. Talk about a poor sport :(

I can only assume he just bought the car, and the guy at the dealership had him convinced that his new 400hp V8 was the fastest thing on the road... and he just found out the hard way that it wasn't.

Either way, it was a fun little run, just figured I would share. Have a good one!

great story. I seem to always get hondas, SRT4s and 4x4 trucks trying to race me. Does my car look like a honda, SRT4 or 4x4 magnet, WTF?
