Never thought I'd be taking my turn to make my post about our dreadful curse. It has bit me now. Well...hit me, in the form of a big male deer with a full rack of antlers.

We were cruising Pine Junction last night, had a wonderful time laughing and watching falling stars. Heading out, we made it all the way through to 285 without hitting anything....well except for the poor little mouse that didn't stand a chance against Dave...We turned onto 285, we were driving at about 55 - 60 mph (speed limit). Tbot and Dave were in front of me. Suddenly this deer jumped out right as Dave passed him, I swerved to avoid hitting him. Instead of stopping, or turning the other direction, he head butted my car!!!!!! His antlers tore up the front end of my passenger side. The light assembly is gone, foglight is gone, the fender is destroyed, my rim is bent up, my hood is dented pretty good.

The deer, unfortunately, suffered enough pain that the CSP put him out of his misery. My car was drivable, and is now sitting in my driveway waiting for repairs.

I'll post pictures later.

*SIGH*

Sorry to hear that, Angie. My car will be parked in long-term at the airport for the rest of the week, so I hope I'm not the next on the list or those struck by the curse. :(

Damn that sucks...for you and the deer. In all seriousness though, glad you're okay- My brother hit a deer in a huge Budget rental truck (like a 24') and it did some serious damage to that thing...I can only imagine Mazda vs. deer!?

The thought of this prospect frightens me on a regular basis.. worst part being that the nose of the miata will just sweep the legs of any large animal and send them crashing down onto me...

Glad to hear you are okay, and sorry about the car!

Yeah that really sucks. I was right behind you and the only reason it didn't do more damage was the fact that you didn't hit him head on, and he kind of bowed his head into your car. I hope the insurance company doesn't give you too much trouble.

Hmmm...could be! And you know what's sad Jimmy? They still sat on it afterwards! And of course the joke of the smoothness went like this: "The damage could have been worse, but because your car is so slippery, the deer just slipped right off it!"

I'm laughing, definitely, at all the jokes.

And I have to also say that of all the people I know in my life, I'm glad I was with these guys when it happened. This club is the best, and the friends I have made are awesome. Even those of you that weren't there, having your support and help (when I need it) is very valuable to me.

What an awesome group CMZC is!!!

Angie I really am sorry, I feel bad cause I'm the asshole who didn't take a radio at the beginning and of course I was the one leading everyone out...and I had no way of relaying the threat of that deer back to you guys...

I really do hope everything goes as smooth as possible for you in getting it fixed

btw, the CSP that showed up was actually a really cool guy, ya know for anyone that cares....wow, that was random
