I'm looking forward to meeting some people at this Thursday's monthly meet. I've been wanting to get to some events but either my work schedule, the time of day, or the day of the week has not been conducive (especially with a 4 year old and 9 month old that need attentiona at 7pm every night of the week). Ever think about making some part of the club mandatory? i.e. some form of attendance is required to maintain membership. 1 meet/year or /quarter? You'll probably find out who wants to be in the club at least.

I've thought about that troy (movovr) but I'd have a total of 20 members in this club lol.

Rich, point taken. We just need a few less poster people and a few more participator people. Lets recruit I think. : )
Roadrnr06 was my leased 2006 Speed 6 which was purchased on 06-06-06. I have many fond memories of that car, and will be keeping my original profile as a memory of the great car that I once had.

My new user name is Roadrnr09 and showcases my new 09 Subaru WRX which I am very happy to have purchased as a replacement vehicle : )

That's pretty much my situation as well- except a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old.

This is why I'm very selective when telling people about the club. Now that I have cards, I'm very aware of who is driving the Mazda I'm eyeing. Recruiting sounds like a good idea, like at Bandi or other enthusiast type places.

Josh I think you are looking to far into this, I have been to almost every meet since I joined the club. And from my point of view there have been some VERY good turn outs, even at the last minute cruises up to Estes Park. I've done the Garden of the Gods meet, where we had a BUNCH of new people show up, and even tagged a couple of Mazdas on the cruise that are now regular posters on this forum. We had a great turn out at Dyno day in the Springs, where 40 percent of the people that showed up where from Denver. We've had the BWW meet in Park Meadows where we had some new members show up there as well, and even had a couple from the springs drive down. I don't remember seeing you at the Dyno day or the BWW meet in Park Meadows. I'm not trying to cut you down in any way shape or form.. you were working and couldnt make it.. it's the same thing with other members on this board. I have not made it the past couple weeks to the stand and you know my situation, I drove all the way to Bandi last wednesday just to support the ones racing even though I really shouldn't have been there.. There are others that are going through rough times as well. Start posting up meets now for this summer and I can almost guarantee you will have big turn outs, don't wait until the last minute to do it.

Josh, can you query all 271 members with a questionnaire? I mean, why are people here? I think it would be cool to find out from as many members as possible answers to multiple choice questions such as:
1. What is your primary purpose for joining this club? Anwers (a, b, c, d, other)
2. How many events would you commit to attending per year?
3. Are you willing to give an annual donation to benefit this clubs' events?
4. Are you here for an online community or a live community?

...it's definitely hard to build engagement with a bunch of people who don't necessarily share the same vision for a club.

First and foremost, even though we are a local club, it's still on online community. The idea of a mandatory meet is rather ridiculous. I try and make about 1 meet a month. I think that's plenty.I'd love to make more, but time constraints limit that. I've no real interest in going to Hamburger Stand meets. Sunday nights are when we wind down, and do "home" stuff. The club meets at Sonic I'm sure will be fun. I'll make those. With travel for work, oncall work rotations, and other commitments, I'll be honest and say that making more than 1 car meet a month is very tough. NOPI, I would've gone to, had I not been going to North Carolina that week. Unlike most people, I'm all about getting out sometime during the week for a little get together. Weekends are tough. I tried organizing the regular gatherings, both those stopped after 2 months, despite good attendance at both. I got the RX-8 meet together last month, and that was fun, despite the snow and lack of cruise time afterward. I feel that meet may have turned off some members as they were really looking forward to a cruise in the foothills. I'd like to see us meet sometime at say, the Morrison park-n-ride, then go for a spirited drive.

A raffle? I'm all about that. I was hoping to get together a "car care" type raffle, with waxes/polish/etc. Details to come...

Ok Josh, I see why your pissed.. but you gotta look at it this way.. The summer has just begun.. The weather is just finally turning out good enough for people to finally start coming out to show off their cars.. Im mean this is a car club right? The purpose of the club is to show off what you got right?

This is also why I have in the past and just recently as you know, ave said something about who we do and dont tag... I can bet you that 75% of the people that have one or no post at all are the ones that just came on here to see what the site is cause they found a card on their window.. Those poeple never had any intentions of really ever being apart of the club. They just wanted to know why they had a card stuck on their window when they were parked outside of Elemtarty school. This is why WE as a club SHOULDNT be going around and tagging anything that says MAZDA on it.. We should look more for the the ones that actually would show any interest at all in being in any kind of club.

And as far as NOPI goes.. Even though last year was some what of a disapointment, this year will probably be better.. Gotta keep in mind that it was the first year it was held in colorado so things didnt totally go the way it should have. The judges even said they were short handed for that show. So hopefully this year they will have learned from their mistakes and make it better.. It will still be the largest show we have in colorado and I really do hope we can get alot of our memebers to attend it.. Everyone needs to keep in mind that it will be nationally broadcasted on tv and if we can get enough club partisipation then hopefully we can be spot lighted on the show..

So finally josh, just relax buddy.. People all have their lives they are doing and they will either come to meets, or they will just lurk about on this site.. Its their choices.. Yes its great to get up and meet everyone and go on cruises.. but its also tough in this time of life when gas is high, cost of living is outragious and everyone has to work a crap load of hours to survive.. But like I said before, its just the begining of summer. People will start coming out of the woodworks.. I know myself will start showing up to more meets now that the weather has gotten better and such..

Easy to get burnt out on something like this, Josh. Take a step back if you need to and breathe deep.

I actually STOPPED tagging for awhile. Now I try to pick-and-choose who I tag. I still get my most success from hand-written notes that don't look like sales pitches.

Josh i agree with you. I went to 3 CS meets prior to going to NTC. The first one was ok, the second one got snowed out and the third was a decent turn out, but a lot of people were from denver on both meets. Its just like the show i was trying to put on for Ft. Carson. There was no participation on that show either. From the club or from people in the area. I dont think this area is car club friendly kinda area.
Another question is out of the 200 some odd members we have the most amount on the forum at one time is usually about 10. How many are registered but dont even participate on the forum itself? Sounds like we need ta clean house and get an accurate count of members not just people that have S/N's on the forum.

I do not think that anyone has to justify their level of participation in this club. We are all here by choice and have the right to choose how much we want to get invloved without having to feel guilty or justify it to others. Everyone gets something different from this site, but we all do apreciate the work that goes into this organization from everyone involved.

Can't blame you for getting upset. Ash and I have been on that end of the stick as well. It plain sucks. You dedicate all your efforts on promises but yet come up empty handed and in the end to make it happen, you have to be the one floating the boat... ya we have been there. I feel your frusteration. We try to make the meets and cruises when we can. We would like to go to more and meet more members, but sometimes plans dont go as we would like. It happens. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and take a breather. This is a club, and the club should pull together to make events happen, not just one person or a few individuals.

Thats just my opinion and I could be wrong.

No, not everyone is having them, but it probably affects some folks. All I'm saying is that I've seen this in other clubs. Mazda6club has dozens of members, but gets MAYBE 5-8 at a meet. I think the biggest cruise I've ever been on we had 9 cars....maybe. So I think maybe this area just doesn't do much of the face-to-face car meet stuff.

Josh, I only miss the monthly meets in the springs because they are on Thursday nights, and I have existing plans on those evenings.
However, I have gotten some confirmations for the car show in September, I'll PM you.
