Cobb Dyno
Cobb Dyno
Does anyone kno how accurate the cobb dyno is? I did a run getting onto the freeway a while ago and finally checked the numbers. 360hp 413tq. At best I would think thats at the crank. Idk if the numbers need to be modified or something. If that is right then im pretty f'in proud.... zoom zoom bitches
Think I drive fast? You should see me ski.
Not accurate at all. They tend to vary each time you test it. I wouldn't take any hp numbers seriously from any electronic device that isn't a real dyno.

Just poll it like 10 times, throw out both the highest and lowest values, and then average the remaining 8.
That's Olympic-level accuracy, right there!

Check out the Virtual Dyno Program, guys over on MSF.org have been saying its actually fairly accurate.

I also use Virtual Dyno and I haven't verified my numbers but it is pretty consistent with each run. I never even tried the Cobb dyno.
With VD, you can definitely use it to see what gains you get from any mods.

When I used the AP dyno on my old turbo RX-8 I got anything from a best of 440rwhp to a low of 220ish rwhp. It's a joke.
The only performance measuring in the AP I found useful was the 1/4 mile and 0-60 timer. Since these use the factory speedo and odometer to compute these, they are pretty accurate. I would use the 0-60mph timer to gauge mods before and after, and it was actually pretty useful.
