New guy from Texas...with 2008.5 CWP Speed3

Postby Disciple » Tue Apr 12, 2011 9:14

Hey all,

I just moved to Superior, CO from Texas and own a 2008.5 CWP Speed3. I don't see nearly as many Mazdas and especially Speed3s as I did in Houston so far...which is a good thing.

My car is bone stock right now except for the Thule rapid podium roof rack. It's only got 19000 miles on it and is pristine. Hopefully the CO climate won't wear it out too fast :).

Anyway, I hope to be able to come to meets and such in the future.

By the way, I need to get an oil change quick. Can anyone recommend a dealer/shop to do this near Superior/Lousiville or elsewhere not too far? From the looks of it, the two closest Mazda dealers to me suck according to reviews on Google. I may go with them for an oil change though if nobody recommends anything.

Welcome to Colorado. Our snow control is not like the "Rust Belt" in the No. East. They do use mag chloride here, but washing is enough to control that. Un-washed the Mag Chlo. does wonders to our electrical connectors.

Cute three (kid, dog and car) in the picture!

Welcome, nice speed3!

McDonald Mazda on Broadway has a $25/oil change special (check website to be sure)
I got my oil done there last time... though I don't think i'd have them work on other stuff...

Climate in CO isn't too bad, the snow melts in 1-2 days and you can pretty much drive year-round :)

Welcome! Just north of you off HWY 119 (Ken Pratt) and County Road 3.5 is Courtesy Mazda. I like them they have really good customer service and great prices. They are a certified Speed Dealership. Last I knew they had 2 Master Speed Techs, so they have guys that know alot about the Speeds.

If you have a garage or a driveway it's pretty easy (though a little messy) to change the oil yourself. There are 7 bolts holding on the undertray and then you have easy access to the oil filter housing. It's a cartridge-style filter, not a twist-on, so that's why it gets messy. There is a drain plug in the filter housing that lets you drain out some of the oil at least. If you buy the filter at the dealer it will come with new o-rings also for the main filter housing and that drain plug.

Oh and welcome. Always liked the white MS3s. :)

I recommend them too. They just switched management but the mechanics are still there- at least Mike is and that is who you want working on your car....
