P2177

Postby I`m Batman » Mon Jul 19, 2010 9:14

So I got a P2177 code on my CX-7 over the weekend. "System Too Lean Off Idle Bank 1"

I had it before but I reset by unplugging the battery to see if it comes back and it didn't until now. It's been months. I did the same this time and it hadn't come back (yet). According to the DashHawk, the AFR looks good.

What do you guys think? Is it something that I should worry about? The car runs great so MAF sensor can't be bad, right?

I highly doubt that it's anything to worry about....It's been at least 6 months since I seen that code.....and no issues...

I had 2177 and it was a vacuum leak. You need to look at your fuel trims on the Dashhawk not just you AFR reading. If it's a small leak, the ecu will add fuel to correct your AFR's to Stoich (14.7) So, by just saying your AFR's look good you aren't getting the whole pictured.

Your STFT/LTFT should be 0% when your are idling. If you have a leak, the STFT will jump up to try to combat the unmetered air getting into the system. Check that and report back what you find.

Good luck

I believe he's saying to check your stft's/ltft's... that will indicate wether or not you have a leak. The dashhawk can be set up to read both

OK, so I finally got the DH out of the MS3 and stuck it in the CX7 this morning.
At first the STFT is pretty stable at 0% but after I was driving for awhile, got to work and just sat the in the parking lot, the STFT started to slowly go into the negative when idling out of gear, if I put it in gear, it starts to slowly go back to 0% and then on to the positive %. Any ideas what that means?

A negative value means it is pulling fuel, which would indicate that you should be free of vacuum leaks

So, does that means that there is a leak when I put it in gear?

no, if you had ANY LEAKS it would add fuel, or show +.

With it pulling fuel, that is normal, and fine

I meant, it does go into + when idle in gear...
it goes in the - when idling out of gear...

or does it just pull fuel anyway when in gear and I should ignore the numbers when in gear?

Park the car. Idle. What do the fuel trims do?

I'm going to be checking this myself as I had a P2187 yesterday morning, cleared it with the DashHawk, and then on my way home from work it threw P2177 and P2187. Car runs great, no hesitations or anything, but I'll check my fuel trims today to see what they're doing.
