Road Trip!!
I make this drive a minimum of 2 times a year due to work. i25 to i80 can be done in 6.5-7 hours depending upon how much zoom you do. I have done the i70 drive and best time was 8.5 hours, but typically it is closer to 9-9.5. If you have a radar detector its easy to do 9 mph over the limit and stay safe, if not do 4 mph over the limit and its all good. But if teaching your son to stay within the speed limits, count on the i80 drive to be right on about 8 hours, not including stop times.

Those times are from Aurora, right? I'll tack on an hour for coming from the Springs. Good info -- thanks!
I do run a radar detector, and it's a pretty good one, so I have faith in it. Probably do 9 over whenever it's 75MPH. At this point, if my son doesn't get the hang of the MTX better, he won't be driving anyway. It'll be all dad, all the time. He'll be navigating.
Boy just over-thinks the whole clutch thing.

Done that trip and always went I-80. It was not even that long 7-8 hours I think. I-80 is a dangerous road though with plenty of semi's. Not sure about the "boom" thing as I have been on plenty of trips with my 3 at least and not an issue. Got 33 mpg back from SLC. Make sure and go up 287 and not to Cheyenne.....

Yes they are from Aurora. Taking 287 is less miles but it actually adds time to the trip. If your looking for more twisties and time with your son take it, other wise stay on i25 up to i80. I, ironically will be making this same trip a week from tomorrow, Sunday, again........be safe.

Wyoming is quicker. You save about an hour going that way but the drive sucks.
