IIRC Groove wanted like $150 for just a basic key and programming (no remote). I really want another key (specifically a switchblade :p) but I don't think I'll be spending that much on an extra key any time soon.

Part two of this story.

The new 6 came with two keys and one remote. I got another remote off fleabay, but can't seem to program it. Fishing around on M6C leads me to believe that because of the past life of the car as a rental, they've disabled the remote learning routine in the ECU. Service tech that being a rental has nothing to do with it and it's $60 to program a remote.

It's entirely possible that it's a dud remote, but I at least checked the battery and that's fine.
