I've been in the springs for awhile... used to race on acedemy before it got lame and you get tickets for doing 5 over. Used to race a chipped '98 Z28 Camaro. Now I have a 2004 RX-8, black. After I do the first few things to a stock car, (window tint and K&N air filter), what would be best to do next? I was thinking turbo kit with the necissary engine mods... but I am not sure. I would like to get the acceleration up seeing as how I am used to the acceleration on a V8. Any suggestions?

Also... what is the body kit on this RX-8?

Sick kit and I like the carbon fiber addition to the head lights.

Any pics?

Welcome aboard! Yet another RX-8!

To get the acceleration "up" on an RX-8 means a lot of money. Turbo or S/C is pretty much the only solution. even with the Greddy kits advertised at low prices, look at a basement of at least $5k to get into the game, probably more. Best advice I can give is to research the heck out of it. Mazsport makes a high power turbo kit, but I believe that starts at around $7k (ditto with the Pettit S/C kit). If you're thinking of the RX-8 as a drag-type car, you definitely got into the wrong ride.

I'm not sure on the lip, but the rest of that body kit is the standard RX-8 appearance package.

Nope, drove past the shell last week, but didnt go in. Just got it last thursday, so it probably wasn't me.

I do not want it to be a drag car, just a bit faster :20ac3f40:

Wether thats a good idea or not, I'll deal with that later with Colorado Springs' finest.

I would be interested in meeting some people from the club one of these weekends... I like to cruise, so let me know if anything is going down.

Welcome to the club. Cobb is working with a shop right near you, Revolutions Performance, on an AccessPort for the RX-8. It's in testing right now, but I'd say that would be the #1 mod to wait for. We have a dyno day scheduled there on March 8th.....if you can, show up meet the club and give the shop a talk about the AP.

Welcome man. You should come over to the Dyno meet. That a is LorkiBird's (Vinny) 8. That's a Vielside fornt lip spoiler. I'm not sure if the side skirts are from the factory appearance package or that Vinny only put the back half of the veilside side skirts. He hardly posts here but he comes to meets. Cool guy. \

Cobb AP will be great to have. Can't wait for all the info on it and how much power it will release from our stock RENI. Turbo kits are making the biggest power for the 8. MAZSPORT has a kit that makes around 360 whp out of the box but I thik that starts around 9k. Other kits similar like PTP, Esmeril, SFR run from 6k to a little over 7k. They all make close to the same power out of the box. Anywhere from 320 if I remember right to 340WHP. TQ is also increased more from Turbocharging than Supercharging...well from what dynos have proven.

Welcome to the club! If you want accelertion out of a rotary and you were already planning engine mods for a turbo, get the engine ported. Just like porting and polishing heads, if you smooth and enlarge the intake and exhaust ports on a rotary, the power goes up very quickly and comes on hard like boost. But be careful who you use for the work, just like a high dollar set of heads, if the ports are done wrong, you'll miss out on a lot of power.

Going off that note... I need to know a solid shop that I can use throughout the entire process of my car... any suggestions? Good prices, and reliable work.
