New to denver, car sputtering

Just moved to Denver and my 1991 Mazda Miata is struggling to get power after moving from New York. It seems the air is too rich up here and the car running lean. Really running like crap. Anywhere I can go to get it re-tuned or have diagnostic tuning to get it back to the way it was? Not familiar with anything in the area. Also how much would something like this run? Otherwise car is pristine. Thanks guys, my first Miata and first post in Denver!

Car should be running rich from too little air if anything. You can't retune the stock miata ecu, you would need a standalone or a piggyback but for the cost I would go with a standalone. Megasquirt is what most miata owners recommend. As far as cost of tuning I can't give you an estimate, but most places charge around $100/hr.

Welcome to the front range.

Welcome! Like he said, can't tune the stock ecu, so it should slowly start to compensate for the change in fuel ratios.

And all cars lose power up here. I lost a good 50 whp on mazdaspeed when I first moved here.

Your slow car just got slower. Also a fellow Miata owner. Welcome!

If your in Denver some by and I can check it out. There are some things with the AFM etc that can help it run better.

You can pull the plugs and see for sure how it is running by the color of the plugs. I can elaborate if you want.

No Check Engine Light? If something was really off I'd think it'd trip one.
