Hey everyone, I'm Slimma from Englewood, and just wanted to do a quick introduction before heading on over to the "Parts" or "Wanted" sections.

I own an '02 Mazda Protege5 which now needs some major love--I recently rear-ended a parked Hyundai Sante Fe thanks to this fantastic snow-covered ice you find on the roads right now in the Denver metro area.

I bought the car in the LA area back in 2002, and was able to pay it off in 3 or 4 years. Boo ya! And I've enjoyed it ever since.

I'll try and find some of the first photos I took of the car when I bought it, but I might be stuck with photos of the damage only.

Peace

Welcome.
Ouch, sorry to hear about the accident. Hope you find what you're looking for.

That's a bummer. I would recommend a dedicated set of snow wheels for the winter time. I have a 03 Mazdaspeed Protege and a set of winter wheels with snow tires. They have lasted for about 5 or 6 years now and they turn the Protege into a winter beast.

If I had any spare protege parts.. other than broken engine internals.. then I would offer them up to ya.

Black :) It "had" chrome wheels until the salt on the roads destroyed them.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

Snow tires, hmm, yeah those might be well worth the money.

I hate to sound rude, but snow tires aren't a miracle cure and won't stop you from sliding into parked cars.

I guess that's true.. but switching from a performance tire to a snow tire takes a car from literally not drivable in snow to having very little problems in any winter conditions. (aside from people trying to rear end you at stop lights cause they ain't got the snow tires)

I paid $200 for a set of used snow tires and got a free set of ford probe rims which have lasted for 5 or 6 snow seasons now... that's about as close to a miracle cure as I could find... aside from not driving.

Sorry tut.. I have to disagree with ya. Everyone.. go buy some cheap snow tires now so you don't crash into my whips!!!

Oh, I hear ya. It'll most certainly help. But tires (and 4wd) are no cure for shitty driving is all I'm saying:lol:

Welcome!

Studded tires would be even better than snow tires, but I'd take them off fairly often during the winter. "Luckily" we've had no shortage of snow and shitty drivers lately lol.
