Goodbye Honda..Hello Mazdaspeed3..Newb in the Springs!

Postby DISIindaHead » Wed May 19, 2010 9:14

Whats up guys..Names Mike and im coming over from Hondas. Got tired of the low HP and TQ. So me and the wife traded in my 2009 Honda Civic SI for a 2010 Mazdaspeed3 ! Got it brand new with 5 miles on it from Bob Penkhus and still breaking her in. Eventually thinking of settin her up wit some goodies but for now shes staying stock. Looking forward to attending some meets and go on a couple cruises. Im still a Honda Owner...still got the wifes 06 civic SI so i still get to hit VTEC lol.

Had some questions though. My buddy has a Mazdaspeed Miata and was telling me that a Forge BPV and Corksport intake will make the car way more fun to drive. Do u agree? or should i go with a different setup? I realli dont know alot about Mazdas especially the DISI motor so suggestions are more than welcome. ALSO...Theres an RX-8 parked at my apt complex with stock gunmetal rims..kinda that smoked color and i really like them. Will they fit on the Speed3. I think they would look sick!
Anways enough of me talking..heres some pics for your viewing pleasure..ENJOY!!

I still love getting into mine and just smelling it lol.

Welcome to the newbie! An intake will definitely make the car more fun to drive but I don't think a Forge BPV will affect driveability at all. The stock BPV holds stock boost levels just fine so about all the Forge will do for you is give you the ping/swords clashing sound when you blow off, heh. Also, the intake doesn't necessarily have to be a Corksport. Cobb and CP-E also make nice pieces.

Welcome! Some of the members will be at PPIR Memorial Day weekend for an Autocross. It won't be a meet by any means but you can at least begin to put faces to screen names :)

ive just always found corksport great. i used to have a bunch of their stuff on my last miata. and im half tempted to sell off some of my begi bits to get the corksport system for my speed..
and my buddy has the forge bpv/ and corksport intake and he loves them yeah the forge doesn't affect drive-ability, my buddy just likes it because the sounds are more pleasing
but i just looked at cobbs site and they don't seem to have a 2010 intake designed yet, and cp-e's intake looks great except for the pricetag.
