Hello, I'm Mike and I thought I'd make my first post a story about why I am here...
Honda has all but abandoned performance minded cars. When honda decided to ignore F1, I didn't flinch. When honda decided to do away with the s2000, I was maybe a little sad. When honda failed to update the Si for 4-5 years I began to suspect something fishy. The final straw was the release of the CR-Z. I grew up with the CRX a very long time ago, it was the car I learned how to drive in and it had a very special place in my heart. I was sooooo excited about the CR-Z release, but then I read the horrible stats on the car and the very compromised design and that was it for me. I knew honda had just given up on performance.
I recently owned an 06 Civic Si and it was an ok car. Not particularly quick nor stylish, most people didn't even give it a second look. I had grown pretty sick of a lot of minor repairs and bad service from dealers and decided to have a look around at other cars. A friend of mine told me to check out a mazda dealer so we went, just to look.
Yadda yadda yadda...
I left with a 2010 Speed3 and I love this car. I get compliments everywhere on it and I've only had it for 3 days. Anyway, for a bit of personal car history, here is a picture of both cars, my old Si on the right and my new MS3 on the left.
Honda's Loss Was Mazda's Gain
Congrats on the new MS3 and welcome to the club. We all kind of held our breath when Mazda came out with the new 2009 6, as it seemed very Camry-ish, and we feared our beloved car maker was turning away from performance.
But the fact that they still make Speed 3s, are still making the RX-8, and the MX-5 is still a zoom-zoom toy tells me they won't ever get rid of the performance side of the company. I've heard rumors the next Mazdaspeed car is going to be the MX-5, with the 2.3L DISI turbo in it, so I think the ZoomZOom mentality still rules.
Congrats on the Speed 3 -- try not to embarrass too many Civic Sis....aww, what the hell. EMbarrass them. I do.

Right on! and Welcome to the club!!! OCD does tint in Lafayette and does an AMAZING job. Plus he does all kinds of vinyl work as well. Have him tint your tails, and that car will look like the bat mobile from behind, ok maybe not like that, but it will look mean as hell!!! And good lil background you gave there too, I personally will never drive/own another Honda after my 95 si and the repairs I did with it, but so far have owned 2 mazdas back to back

I didn't realize Honda was taking a more conservative approach on future models.
I'll admit I haven't liked what they have been putting out in the past few years stylewize, but the i4 in the new accords looked promising.
Congrats on your purchase, I am in the process of returning to my honda roots.

Congrats on the new ride. I'm not a big fan of the '10s but black definitely looks the best out of all the colors for them. Intake and turbo inlet ASAP! You think you love the car now, just wait till you get those on there.

Welcome to the car club. I remember my car shopping experience last march included a 2009 civic si.
My friend Jason runs a shop 'Direct Tint' over in Golden. He did my car, has done my friend's cars etc. and I've never seen a bubble. Clean cuts, precise lines. He'll work with you on exactly what you want as well.
