No mazda here... just a "distant cousin"

Just as the title says, I dont have a Mazda. All I have is a 2008 Ford Focus... yes the weird looking one. It was my understanding that the two cars (Mazda3 and Focus) are sort of related so I figured id come check this forum out. I recently left focusfanatics.com because the forum got out of hand, it was really disrespectful towards me but I did nothing wrong so I figured I'd look for a new home. I'm not here to start a "the focus is just as good as the mazda3" war or anything like that... I'm here looking for other car enthusiasts who like to drive, wash, and enjoy their cars as much as i enjoy doing these things. It doesnt hurt that the two cars are sort of "distant cousins" in a way

welcome. you have the 2.0 or 2.3 duratec engine?
very similar cars since ford and mazda and volvo share alot of the same design aspects.

the duratec 20, so the 2.0L. the duratec 23 has been discontinued since the redesign sadly. what do i have done to the focus? the question is, when am i going to stop being cheap and get these parts layin around my house installed? lol
right now im working on visual modifications... ill show it to you guys if you promise to keep it tactful. i dont mind people not liking it, it is supposed to be polarizing, but at least keep the disrespect levels low (this is where things went awfully wrong on the last forum)
also keep in mind that the graphic isnt done it has to go all the way up the hood and over the roof. its just a start so far...

not bad. i like the yellow on black look. Sixburgher here in Cheyenne is wanting to do a subtle yellow on blacked-out look for his Speed3. cant wait to see the final product, should be one clean lookin' focus.
whats your intentions as far as performance mods/ interior? interested to know what parts you have lying around

We always welcome non-mazda members! We have a handful already. I have to admit I'm really liking the new look of that Ford. My first thought was "Ha, a Corolla wanna-be."
Glad to have you on our board! WELCOME!!

As far as performance mods layin around my home, I have a intake and a cat back exhaust. I'm starting with visual tho. Then I'm gunna lower it 1.5 inches. Then do the performance mods. As far as the interior, I'm having a bodyshop paint the silver trim piano black and there are areas with a recessed "focus" lettering. Those will be filled in with yellow.

sounds like a good start. thats similar to plan of attack I had...but I did little cosmetic things throughout my build. next year Im doing rims and tires, and a standback engine controller.

on the exterior, of course the stripes will be completed and run the length of the car. and everything that is chrome or shiny will be blacked out including wheels. the grill, the headlights, the fender vent, and the tailights will all be blacked out. i guess ill start on this project this weekend???

As far as I'm concerned, what you do to your car is your business. If you like it, that's all that matters. I can't wait to see the finished product though. I like the lines on the 4dr focus and it sounds like you'll have some decent performance mods. Have fun with it and welcome!
