Well just five days after my first test drive I pulled the trigger and bought a new Speed3 -- Metro Gray GT just off the truck at McDonald in Littleton. It had only been in the show room for about three hours when I got there, and from what I've seen I doubt it would have lasted the weekend. There were only two other Metro Grays in Denver as far as I could tell -- one at Stil Terhar but it had Nav which I didn't want, and another at the Aurora dealership, which I would have gone to if I couldn't make a deal with Littleton, which is a little closer to me up here in Boulder. But all the salespeople were good.
I considered a whole bunch of cars -- Lexus IS 250, BMW 328i, Audi 4, Saab 9.3, Acura TSX, Subi STI, Mitsu EVO -- but the main thing I was looking for was fun to drive factor, and when I checked out the RX 8 and Speed3 they went straight to the top of the list. I love the look of the RX8 but in the end the practicality factor made the Speed3 win out. The car is just incredibly fun to drive, and for the price it seemed like a no-brainer. It's my first Mazda but I have a feeling it won't be my last. Thanks to everybody for your feedback to my original post.
