Thanks for the warm welcome. I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing our passion for Mazdas. For those of you wondering what happened and why I missed NOPI Last year. My family and I ended up moving from Edwards to Glenwood Springs that weekend. You would of though I could of planned better. Following that I was busy helping with a busy forest fire firefighting season. In the mean time I was having work done at a local performance shop. The shop blew my engine while working on it. I went around and round trying to settle the damage claim. Although it took awhile, but I was able to come out ahead on the blown engine. I got a brand new forged engine with upgraded forged internals to replace the OME factory engine with 47,000 miles on it.
The car is currently at Revolutions Performance in Colorado Springs completing the engine swap and getting tuned.
I'll have new pictures when I get it back from Revolutions Performance.

Wow, if you don't mind me asking, what performance shop blew up your motor? If you don't feel comfortable posting the shop up, shoot me a PM. Pretty cool though that they replaced your stock cast internals motor with a fully forged shortblock. Are you leaving the compression stock, or lowering it? With the new forged internals, I'm assuming you'll be running something a little bigger than the stock turbo (T25 IIRC?!?)? If not, I'm assuming you're at least going to turn up the boost

The perforamce shop WAS Advanced Sound and Performance of Glenwood Springs. I used WAS, because they are currently going out of busniess. They are in the process of liquidating their stock and closing the doors. I was fortunate to settle my claim before all this went down.
As for the engine I went with the lower compression 8.5/1 and increased the bore to .020. I am doing research right now on the next set of mods to take advanage of the forged block and internals. A bigger turbo is definately in the plans along with an engine management system (timeline late June or early July). But I also have my eye on beefing up the LSD which have been known to fail even under stock performance. In the meant time I plan to up the boost some and break-in the engine during the first month.
I would be interested in meeting up with folks when I pick-up my ride. I'll keep you posted as the date approaches.

PICTURES POSTED
I'm having difficulty posting my filed pictures on the forum. They exceed the maximum size. My car is in the shop so I am unable to take new pictures.
However, I did start a profile on CarDomain.com and have posted pictures there for now. The profile will need some work but its a start. Need to mention the Colorado Mazda Club. The car currently shows up as most recently added rides under Mazdaspeed Protege. My Memder ID is the same MSP Super Street.

Good choice on the compression IMO, as 8.5:1 is very boost friendly, and boring .020 over is the proper clearance for new forged slugs. IIRC, the little T25 on the MSP at sea level puts out about 7psi of boost right? With forged internals and lower compression, you should be able to roughly double that, assuming you have an engine management device capable of controlling the car's fuel trim & eliminating fuel cut. What are you planning to run for engine management?
Good luck with the project man, it's very cool, and I'm extremely interested to see what you put down after at least turning up the boost and tuning the car

Yeah, definately keep us updated. I was thinking maybe I'll swing by tomorrow after work just to see the ride. Do you have any guess for a completion date? Any free dyno tuning or time with the swap purchase?
