Welcome! Nice to meet you at dyno day (im the short one with the camera). Cool choice in car, what made you choose it over some of its competitors? Wanna run it?[/b]

First goes the tint and stereo.. then comes the performance mods. First thing of course will be the cold air intake. Unfortunatly, I don't see many options out there yet except the Mopar one. Nothing wrong with that one but I don't like how Mopar controls their market cause I like options. Guess I should get used to that with this car.
After that who knows..
So what's the first mod?!?!?[/b]

Nice to of met you at the Dyno Day Pope! Personally I think the stock Caliber's look like shit but the SRT4 package does make it look more aggressive and mean. These look pretty nice actually, very SUV'ish. Congrats on the purchase and definately try and come down to the Hamburger Stand one of these weekends with Bertha! Would love to see this fast beast in person!

Thanks was good to meet all of you guys. I considered a VW GTI, VW R32, MazdaSpeed3 and decided the Caliber was best for me. I really like it's looks and the way it drives, most of the time.. The handling is pretty tight.. the power is great and it's limited production so you won't see a million SRT's out there. The only issue i have so far it shares with any high output front wheel drive.. the pull or flutter (torque steer) you get when you unleash all that power to the front wheels. It just takes getting used to. If they all cost the same I'd have gone with the R32. AWD would have been really nice. But it wasn't worth the extra nearly 10 grand.

I have been seeing more new R32's around, but i have yet to see the new SRT-4 so you defiantly have that going and yes the R32 is pricy so good choice in saving that money. Im sure it will do fine in the winter with a good set of winter tires.

Stock for stock, I'm in. Let's see...
The SRT4's ECU, developed by Siemens, is a sophisticated piece of computer technology, and it governs boost and engine output over a broad range of operating parameters. But under ideal conditions, the turbo produces max boost of 16 psi, and with everything in optimum the new engine will churn 300 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 260 pound-feet of torque across an unusually broad range, from 2000 on to the horsepower peak. As with the previous SRT4, this adds up to a pretty seductive bang-for-buck story, only more so.
Historically, putting big horsepower through a front-drive system carries an inevitable consequence known as torque steer. It was part of the deal with the previous SRT4, and despite various countermeasures — equal-length half-shafts, for example — it's going to be part of the deal with the new one.
2007 DODGE CALIBER SRT4

It "should" beat an MS3/6. Almost 400lbs lighter and 30bhp more. Though I've beaten cars that I shouldn't have, much of the outcome comes down to the driver when they are this close in specs'..
Like I said, I'm game ;-)

Are we just throwing out random challenges? LOL. One thing that no one has considered, is that Dodge specifically designed the SRT-4 to push higher boost pressures as altitude increases, IIRC, I believe I read it would push an extra 3psi of boost or so at high altitudes in an attempt to make the same power as it would at sea level... something the Mazdaspeed's don't do.
Most stock Mazdaspeed 3/6's at this altitude only push 12-13psi if you hook up a boost gauge to monitor it, whereas they're supposed to push 15.6-16psi at sea level, so they lose a found lbs. In comparison, STI's should push 14.5psi at sea level, but will only lose about 1psi, still pushing about 13.5psi up here, which is why even though in '06 they were only rated about 26bhp apart (300hp STI vs 274bhp for Speed6 in 2006), both being AWD, so same AWD drivetrain loss, but on a dyno, STI's will put down an extra 40-50whp at this altitude, as the Mazdaspeed's aren't as adaptable at altitude... whereas a car like the Caliber SRT-4 was designed to be. From a roll, at this altitude, Speed3 vs Caliber SRT-4, I would put my money on the SRT-4.
Although, I would like to see it in person... so someone should definitely give it a shot lol.

I'm game, from a dig, or in the wet though ;-) <looks at Srt-4 wheels smoking in the rear view> I'd go from a roll too just to see. No harm in a loss when it's a friendly matter IMHO.

I'll line up with you guys from a roll. And when the SRT4 beats me, then so be it... at least I'll still be in second.
