I want to clear out my extensive collection of Autocross and Time Trial tires;

295s fit on 8" rims? I have 19x9s from the factory and everyone says not to go wider than 275 on them and that's a full inch wider.

Yea, everyone at Solo Nationals in Stock Class run those or 285's on RX8's with the stock size rims. I know what the book says, but reality is different. They're on the Enkeis right now and the tread sits surprisingly flat!

Yeah and the size difference between tire manufacturers can be large sometimes too.

That and even within a manufacturer's line. The 295 Hoosier A6 is actually listed as having a smaller tread width than the 285. They say that the 295 is built to the minimum tolerance allowed and the 285 to the maximum.
