That's not necessarily true. The officer should be getting all his information off of the Registration. So it shouldn't matter if the car is de-badged or not. It's nothing more than error on the officers part. Yes they got out of it but only because the officer was stupid. That wouldn't fly if I were a cop.

Haha, well more like with parking tickets than speeding tickets. I remember reading one post where apparently an officer wrote "Jap" under the make and let the model blank on a parking ticket. Needless to say, he got out of that ticket.

I don't know, I think I'd be pretty happy if I got out of a expensive ticket because an officer didn't know what kind of car I was driving... I know my dad got a $75 for not having his front license plate on his TL, and I'm sure just about everyone would be happy to get out of that ticket because the officer didn't know that it was a TL. Maybe not something to be proud of, but I see no reason to be mad at getting out of a parking ticket.

Learjet45 wrote:And one more thing, do you know if the inner and outer rings both light up when you press the brake on the CAR_LEDs? I know the regular tails don't, but I'm not sure if the CAR_LEDs are that way. If they are like that (both the inner and outer rings don't light up, I think it's just the outer on the regular tails), you should definitely look into the tail light mod to make both light up! I think it's just changing a couple wires around.

Yea I did the tail light mod to them, so when I brake all of the rings fill in red.. rather than just the two outer ones.:)

Oh, and I bought these new using spare change I had saved up all year haha. It was heavy.

Haha. Very nice. It's so stupid that both rings didn't light up from the factory.
And damn, $400 is a lot of money for tail lights :p

Do you have any night photos of your tails? I'd love to see.

Not of regulator's car, but there are tons of CAR_LED photos floating around on Mazda6Club and 6crew:

Here's a video of the tails. It shows each the stock tails first, then CAR_LEDs during the day, then at night (bit of glare, but it's the best I could find)

Edit. Nevermind. I'm barely awake. I just saw the outer ones.

I paid $320 for mine using the change jar I had been slowly filling all year. I'll recoup more of that when I sell my stock lights too... No biggie.

Oh and to answer the question about the tint, I think its 5% tint. Its way too dark for my taste, but this was the way I bought the car and never bothered to fix it.

I've taken apart headlights multiple times, but the tail lights on this car are a whole different story. The design of them makes it extremely difficult to pry the lens away from the base without cracking something, and the few people who have pried them open end up getting fog or water in the lens.

I debadged my car because I don't need a police officer seeing the word "speed" anywhere on my vehicle. :)

Oh, and nice lights, Reg.
