Pulled the trigger on a set of summer wheels

In keeping with tradition, I have made a really silly summer wheel purchase for the car. My original plan was to find a cheap set of stock Evo GSR Enkei 18's roll around on while I overhaul up my horribly curb rashed Evo MR OEM BBS wheels this summer, but then I stumbled across these cheap alternatives. XXR 527's of the 18x9.75" variety. They look much the same as the OEM Enkei's, but have a massive concave to them and surprisingly enough they only weigh 21 lbs (my forged BBS weigh 18.5 lbs). Done deal. Mine will have the exact same filament as the black car:

I opted for Chromium Black on my white Evo.

You all know the how it goes though. You get what you pay for. These suckers are not bolt on like what some people on the forums think.

  • Rear fenders must be rolled (courtesy Street Trenz)
  • Tuner Lugs Required, OEM won't fit lug hole(12 x 1.5 Muteki Closed End)
  • Hubcentric Rings (73.1 x 67.0)
  • 265/35/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
  • TMPS rebuild kits required

So now I'm waiting for the tires to arrive at discount tire sometime this week. Pictures will be posted soon!

Those will look sick on a white Evo. Post pics when they're mounted!

Do you HAVE to have the TPMS kit? Or can you just leave them off and live with the warning light? I used to have the light on all winter long in my MS3 because I wasn't going to pay the price of a 5th tire or more just to not have that light coming on.

Wheels look really good though and I'll be curious to see how they look against white. 265 is some pretty serious meat all around on an Evo.

The guy at discount tire argued with me about the TMPS. He said they wouldn't mount the wheels without them :( The rebuild kits cost $10 a piece.

That's pretty crazy. TPMS is a good idea, but not having it is hardly a safety concern if you know how to use a tire pressure gauge and check your tires out regularly.

I ran into a similar problem when I got my Legacy. It has to do with TPMS being considered a safety device and they can't give you the car knowing there is a malfunctioning safety device or something along those lines.

u suck.

Been wanting to go with black wheels on my Evo as well. White ftw. Do you have a drop, or is that stock height?
