Just a thread about switching from the winter tires back to the nice summer rubber...

I thinking early April...

I think today.... o wait i did swap them today You have no idea how happy i am. My goodness i can now take a corner without fear of dieing! Best $72 i have ever spent!

I swapped them a week ago.

April 4th for me. I need to get another coat of wax on the summer wheels before I can put them back on.

I never swaped mine to winter tires and I lived all winter.

As soon as i get a moment to myself. My usual thinking is switch to winters at halloween and back to summers at easter, but easter was kinda early this year, so i might even give it another week and wait until april.

I'm in winters all year long....

You still have Greek Orthodox Easter to come by so you're still good on your thinking. April, 27th.

Well, April 4th came early. It was such a nice day and the kids were sleeping so I tackled it. The extended forecast to April 4th was looking good anyway. So now both of my cars have been swapped back to summer mode. Looks good. Real good.

Update: went to the store tonight for the first drive with the 17" wheels re-installed. WOW! The car is NOTICEABLY slower in a straight line now. The winter wheels/tires would seem to jump off the line (as best a NA Protege can) while these wheels don't seem to have that same effect at all. Oh well, corner speeds are higher now though. And the waxed wheels look outstanding! I think I walked all the way to the front door of the store backwards so I could stare at it in the parking lot.

I think 3/31/08 for the RX8 since that is when the $25 coupon from MacDonald Mazda expires- LOL.
My RX7 works fine in the all seasons tho

My MS3 has been covered up in the garage for about 5 or 6 months. Just took it out for the first time yesterday. And didn't have to change any winter tires.

It was so nice today... I'm not sure if I can wait till April or not

It is good to be back on the summer rubber! Much quieter! And turning and braking is done with much more vigor! Plus it looks just.... damn!

And the 2 coats of wax on the wheels seem to be keeping the brake dust at bay. YEAH!

I don't have any recent pics of the newly reinstalled wheels, but here's a comparison picture for those that have forgotten:

Are those Nokian hakkapeliitta rsi winters?

Nope. Hankook Winter iPikes. They do however look pretty similar to the Nokian tires- partly why I bought them.
