It has preset ratios to make you think it is a manual.

yep, basically what he said. They have preset positions to imitate gears. You'd never know it though. As soon as you touch the paddle it shifts instantly and much faster than a trad manual...and the car lurches forward similar to a full-throttle shift or positive shift.
