That's what I did to check mine and determine they were bad. I still do that before installing them, just to make sure I'm not wasting my time haha. I just use a 9v battery though, and I have some of those terminals from Radio Shack, the kind that are in a stereo that snap onto the battery. Then I just run the two little wires to either side of the battery and listen for clicking. Real easy.
I've thought about the E85 thing, but things I wondered about were if the rotary needed more lubrication than ethanol offered, if I'd be driving a distance and end up running out of fuel for lack of stations, and also that E85 seems to burn faster than petrol, which would also apply to reason 2 lol.

E85 is great, but there are a lot of drawbacks. Most of which I wouldn't put up with on a daily driver. Luckily for me, my FD is far from a DD, so they don't apply.
I am concerned how government support of E85 and the corn farmers that supply the ethanol is dwindling. Colorado used to have a crap ton of E85 stations and now more stations are dropping it rather than new ones starting to carry it.

From witchhunter: "A 9 volt battery can be used to check for stuck injectors, listen for a click. Don't use the car's battery for testing, it can overheat the injector coil, (especially low impedance injectors). Just because an injector "clicks", it doesn't mean that it flows correctly, it just indicates it's not stuck."

Yeah as long as you have a datalogit installed and have the tune and software saved on your computer, you won't have a problem changing tunes.
However, running E85 is a bit more involved than that. First, you need to either add injectors or get some that have MASSIVE flow. I saw one guy that ran like 6000cc of fuel if I remember right. You burn much more E85 than fuel. Because of that, I doubt you'd be able to just switch tunes, because I doubt you'd be able to tune huge injectors down fuel settings.

As long as you stick with Injector Dynamics/Bosch EV14 style injectors, and within reasonable sizes on the primaries (i.e 1000cc ID primaries) you can switch back and fourth without issue, even with large secondaries. Depending on how much power you're shooting for, I would recommend the Xessive LIM and 4 2000cc ID secondaries and 2 1000cc primaries for enough fuel. That's a fuel system that's capable of more than 10,000cc of fuel per minute. You would also need twin Bosch 044 pumps or a monster Weldon, Aeromotive, or a Product Engineering pump.
The bigger issue is you don't want to mix E85 and gasoline otherwise you can get odd blends and not know what you're actually running. Generally not a good idea. It's pretty difficult to get the tank completely empty, unless you drain it (obviously).

Ernesto is pretty good, for when you decide to do a full repaint. Simon got his car painted there right before he decided to part it out LOL. There is another place that is a sponsor on ColoradoHPJunkies, Dicky's I think is what it's called. I've never seen their work though.
I have a buddy that usually sprays my random pieces, but he lost his gun a while back and I'm not sure he's interested in doing it anymore anyway. I'd say Chris' idea is pretty good for now, since you're going to get a full respray later anyway.
You do realize you're opening yourself up for a barrage of jokes, right? LOL

I know but I'm used to it.
It isn't going to look perfect because your paint will have faded over the years. If you did it right, it should be a 10' paint job. Most shops will probably charge $100+ and since you are repainting the car soon anyway this would work.
