long story short, after leaving Erick's (ecam) on saturday my idle was weird (so low it wanted to stall) in a few stop signs but it went back to normal once I got on the main road.

This morning I started the car again and it was idling really low less then 500 and i could hear a faint knock coming from the engine. I thought it was the idle screw so I grabbed a flat head and tried raising the idle, but my eyes started hurting from some sort of fumes in the engine bay. (not sure how smart that was)

the car ran fine after it was warmed up and driven a few miles.

coming back from school the idle was low again(engine at operating temp). and almost stalled while coming to a red light (in neutral) I had to use my heal and toe to break while giving it some gas. by the time I was a few blocks away from my house the idle was normal again (800rpm)

what are your opinions? I feel like I'm loosing gas somewhere. or could that fumes just been my exhaust leak.

check if you charcoal canister is filled up with gas.

it almost sounds like the choke isn't coming on to me. Look at the two small coolant hoses going to the intake.

How do I check that, couldn't find anything online that would help.

are you talking about the two that connect to the rubber intake section right before the elbow?

Anyway my idle was perfect all day today. If it happens again I will update. I think the problem was just the gas tank was low.

quick update:

the idle problem has been back a few times. After further researching I think my problem is with the tb, and running too rich. On 7club I found a thread saying if the car is running rich it can cause bad low idle because the ecu or bac does not feed enough gas when idle starts to drop below 1k. So to fix the idle when car has warmed up I have to adjust the idle screw to 750rpm and reset or readjust the tbs at the same time. I'm not sure how to adjust the tbs though?

Alex, I wonder if your car is being as stubborn as mine with the poor-idle? Have you changed your fuel filter yet? After Pat changed mine, it got better at a "steady" idle around 450rpm, but still low.... might as well try.

its a rotary, its normal lol

low idle is usually a vac leak.
Your statement on great gas mileage kind of adds to this assumption.

to adjust the tps you'll need a voltmeter (and know how to use it)

I know it says turbo, same for n/a

can you specify on the fumes from the engine bay? if it smells like fuel then this is not an issue to ignore. The pulsation damper is known to fail in these cars and leak fuel onto the exhaust manifold = instant car killing fire.

if there are no fuel leaks then change the fuel filter (located right below the brake master cylinder/booster)

the last low idle cause I can think of is weak or no spark on either leading or trailing side. (i have an update on christi's FC that I'll post over there in a sec)
