Drove my car to Grand Junction and back over the weekend. Car did fine but for some reason my cruse decided to not work. I figured if that was the only problem I had I would be good. I followed my dad in his '04 Yukon XL Denali back. He kept asking if I could keep up so I passed him heading up Vail Pass, haha.

Lol that's awesome! That is good if that's your only problem. Might be easy to fix too.

I hope it's an easy fix. It worked the last time I drove it to denver.

My dad and I looked at the exhaust yesterday to try and see if we could cut and weld the exhaust flanges to get the angle right so I stop burning gaskets. The down pipe is a Bönez Performance Converter System from RX7.COM. Once we pulled to exhaust it quickly became apparent that the flanges were really warped. I'm talking 1/8"- 1/4" off. I sent and email to them but haven't heard back, I bought it 3-4 years ago.

I'm most likely going to have to cut the existing flanges off and replace them.

That sucks the flanges are so warped. Do you think the warping is the cause of the gaskets burning?

Yes it is.

Looks like RX7.COM may replace the flanges for me. They want me to send them pictures and said they would make it right.

I may still go ahead and get a copper gasket for the car as well.

What does the gasket look like? I had an extra exhaust gasket around for a while that was sent incorrectly for that t1r I had. Slim chance it could work if I still have it, but yours if it would work. It is a metal gasket.

It is a two bolt with a 2" pipe and 3 1/4" bolt spacing. I have a couple of factory style gaskets but I was thinking of upgrading to the copper.

The one I think I have is a metal mesh type gasket. 2 bolt. Was for a 70 mm pipe though. So the gasket would likely be the wrong size. Don't recall the bolt spacing. Would look like this one

I never heard back from RX7.com so today I ordered replacement flanges and a copper gasket.

My dad came over last night and we replaced the front flange and installed a copper gasket. It took about 1.5-2 hours to get it done. I have the new rear flange but we didn't replace it because of time. It is slightly warped but not bad enough to leak.

I drove my to work today for the first time in almost a month.

I fixed a small rear brake squeak when backing the car up. One of the springs for the disc brake hardware was rubbing the rotor only when backing up. easy fix, I just ground about 1/32" off the spring.

I also figured out a vibration and noise I've had when driving over 60 mph. The front driver's side wheel bearings are going. Yesterday I replaced the outer thinking that was the only bad one. I will be picking up the inner bearing and seal this afternoon. I'm thinking they went bad because some moisture got in through a bad seal.
