DW is going to let me use his. What else could cause coolant to be in the motor on cold startup?

That's the only thing I can think of. But you are SURE that it's coolant in the engine on startup? That's all I'm saying is verify that's your problem.

it is definitely coolant, I have no questions there.

I replaced a leaking lower radiator hose clamp last night and re-pressurized the system. This morning the pressure was down from 15psi to 12psi and not coolant on the ground. I'm going to let it sit pressurized today and see what happens. I need to drain the oil and see if it is coolant free.

Since I started parked in the garage, I haven't had any problems with burning coolant. I don't know if it is related, as long as it is working fine, I really don't care.

Now and again, I have sporadic idle. I haven't been able to figure it out. Some days the car will idle perfectly all day and some day it won't. I'll stop at a light an the idle will drop to 400-500 RPM and jump to 1100 RPM. It will do that for 10-30 seconds but after that it will go right back to idling at 800 RPM.

The only other thing I have going on right now is an exhaust leak. I'm going to have Shadow look at it this weekend and see if it can just be welded up.

As for the idle, have you noticed the temperature on the days it's idling funny? Excessively cold, etc? I've noticed changes before that seemed to coincide with a significant change in temp.

You might be right. Looking back I think it might be when the temp is below freezing. I'll have to keep an eye on it the end of this week when it gets cold again.

If that does turn out to be the problem, I don't think there is anything I can do about it.

Shadow welded up my exhaust so no more exhaust leak.

I do believe the erratic idle is related to the cold air. I have no way of adjusting the anything to fix the problem, all I can do is test the air sensors. There is the air temperature in the intake, and the ambient air sensor built into the air flow meter.

The welding of the exhaust didn't fix my clunking noise so something is still loose. Is anyone in the springs available Friday afternoon or this weekend to maybe help me look at the car? I just need a second set of eyes on things.

I might have some time. Do you want to get it on a lift? Does it clunk only at certain times or anytime the car is moving?

Any time I hit a bump while driving. A lift would be helpful but not a requirement. Jack stands would be fine.

OK cool, just gimme a call or text. At some point Saturday I'm going to David Motley's house to discuss powder coating my calipers, but other than that I should be free the rest of the day.

OK I could have a possible change of plans. I MIGHT have to work Saturday. As it stands right now I don't think I will, but tomorrow I'll know for sure.

If he can't make it, I can probably spare some time Saturday. Shoot me a text if you need me.
