I got my new 2010 but im still waiting on the books. Anybody know the breakin procedures? My last 8 was used and ready to go.

The RB break-in procedure is pretty good.

When I got the new motor in my 8, I took it easy for 300 miles or so, then just went for it (actually got it dynoed at that point too haha).

You just want to make sure you vary engine load by not cruising in one gear for a long period of time.

But, asking how to break in a new rotary will give you as many different opinions as synthetic vs non-syn. Everyone has their own personal experiences and thus their own ideas on what works and what doesn't.

Some believe (and I do too, to an extent) that run the engine lazily for 50 miles or so just to make sure it's running right, then give it hell. Every seal/bearing/machined surface that needs to seat will at that point.

BMW Motorcycles even subscribes to that theory by breaking in their motorcycle engines at the factory in Germany completely dry. That's right, no oil. They just spin the engine over, let it fire for less than a few seconds, then shut it down. It seats the rings and everything instantly. And BMW Motorcycle engines are legendarily reliable.
